BMSL is a multilingual preschool and primary school operating according to the Swedish curriculum. From the age of one through ninth grade, our students pass through the same gates here in central Lund. This provides security and continuity for students, teachers, and parents alike. Perhaps this explains why many students view the school as their second home. We place great importance on well-being and community. We want to be the school students look forward to. At BMSL, students encounter a multilingual and international environment. Here, teachers speak Swedish, English, and French – and through our language immersion method, students have the opportunity to develop their language skills naturally. This means the French teacher always communicates in French and the English teacher always in English, regardless of whether the interaction takes place in the classroom, at the after-school care center, in the hallway, or during recess. Our language educators are native speakers and provide students with an authentic language experience every day.

In addition to language immersion, we work with Montessori pedagogy as one of several tools to help students achieve the goals of the curriculum. However, above all, our ambition is to give every child the best prerequisites for the future – by offering a stimulating learning environment, creating security, and sparking curiosity. Our driving force is to equip students with the tools they need to develop their full potential.

Today, there are 44 children in the preschool and 420 students in the primary school (grades F-9), with approximately 220 students in the after-school care center. Educators and children/students come from various countries and diverse cultures. BMSL is a highly stimulating and dynamic workplace.

About the Role

We are looking for an after-school care teacher who is passionate about their profession. Someone who creates a safe and stimulating environment for our students. You are a person who promotes student development and contributes to their social skills. You enjoy challenging students by allowing them to explore their interests and introducing them to new ones. You demonstrate this in the classroom during the day as well, supporting students during school hours and in recess activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily work of the after-school care center based on the curriculum and established goals.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate teaching in the after-school care center.
• Create a safe and respectful environment where every student feels seen and heard.
• Collaborate with other educators to create a cohesive learning environment.
• Communicate regularly with guardians to ensure an open dialogue about their children's progress and needs.
• Support students in the classroom during school hours.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a certified after-school care teacher and have experience working closely with students, with a deep understanding of their needs and development. You have a natural ability to create and lead activities that are both stimulating and creative, and you are passionate about giving students meaningful experiences in their daily lives.

Your strong communication skills and ability to collaborate enable you to contribute positively to the team's work, and your commitment to children's learning and well-being is what truly sets you apart. You have good knowledge of the school's governing documents and use them naturally in your work.

As an educator, you take responsibility for your own development, as you know that reflection and learning are crucial for making a real difference. You follow up on your teaching and constantly work to become even better.

Since English is one of our main languages, we would prefer that you have English as your native language, but also that you can understand and express yourself in Swedish.
