We are currently seeking a Technical Investigator who is eager to work on critical societal issues where technology, cybersecurity, and regulations intersect.

We work on what everyone takes for granted – the ability to communicate. At PTS, we ensure it works now and in the future, for everyone.

To strengthen Sweden's digital resilience, PTS is implementing a strategic initiative where the Department for Secure Communication has been divided into two new departments: Preparedness and Security Protection, and Cybersecurity. The new Department for Cybersecurity will play a central role in ensuring that Sweden's digital infrastructure is developed and protected to meet societal needs. The department operates at both national and international levels on cybersecurity issues to ensure robust and secure networks and services. We also work to protect our integrity through trusted digital services and ensure that data required for law enforcement purposes is handled correctly.

About the Role

As a Technical Investigator, you will work on qualified technical analyses and investigations within cybersecurity and secure electronic communication. The role has a clear technical focus and involves assisting the authority in preparations for the new Cybersecurity Act, which comes into force in January 2026. You will examine how organizations and companies, particularly within the telecom sector, conduct their security work and contribute technical underpinnings for decisions and supervision. The work is varied and developmental. You will participate in the handling and analysis of security incidents, lead and contribute to internal and external investigations, and provide technical expertise in regulatory work related to security requirements according to the Cybersecurity Act/NIS2. The role also includes representing PTS in contacts with companies, other authorities, and organizations, as well as participating in national and international cooperation, including work at the EU level. You will actively monitor technology and market developments in cybersecurity and electronic communication and contribute to developing the authority's working methods and regulations. The role offers significant room for personal responsibility and the opportunity to influence the direction of your work based on experience and interest. You will work closely with colleagues with various competencies, such as lawyers, economists, and engineers, in an environment where knowledge exchange and development are the focus.

About the Team

The Unit for Secure Networks and Services is responsible for regulation and supervision within secure electronic communication. The mission is to ensure that communication networks and services are secure, robust, and reliable. The unit is also responsible for the handling and analysis of incidents in collaboration with CERT-SE. At PTS, you will work in an open and non-pretentious climate with high competence, a strong societal focus, and a good work-life balance.

About You

To thrive and succeed in this role, we look for someone who is collaborative and comfortable working in a changing environment. You have the ability to adapt to changing conditions and find new ways forward in assignments and work groups. Furthermore, you have good analytical skills and can express yourself clearly both verbally and in writing. Your personal qualities are important, so we will place great emphasis on these.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A Master of Science in Engineering (Civilingenjör) or Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Högskoleingenjör) in Computer Technology, Information Technology, or a Bachelor's degree in Computer or Systems Science, or equivalent relevant technical education.
  • At least three years of experience in qualified work within the telecom sector.
  • At least two years of experience in cybersecurity, which could include working with protecting IT environments, systems, and data against attacks and errors, or working with availability such as redundancy and backup power.
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.

It is also meritorious if you have:

  • Education in cybersecurity.
  • Certification in cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CISA, CCSK, CCAK).
  • Experience in building and operating networks for electronic communication.
  • Experience with supervision, auditing, or audit-like methods.
  • Experience with regulatory authority or rule-making.

Our Offer

We take life seriously. At PTS, you can have a life on and off the job. If you feel good, we feel good. Therefore, we offer competitive salaries, flexible working hours, and the possibility of remote work. We also have a generous wellness allowance and two wellness hours every week. Additionally, you get favorable terms for lunch, vacation, parental leave, pension, and sickness. You will work in modern activity-based offices at Hälsingegatan 38. As a government authority, we offer a safe and stable work environment where you can feel secure. We are creating tomorrow's society and must be at the forefront. At PTS, you will grow with your tasks all the time.

Good to Know

The position is a permanent employment with an initial probation period of six months. Location in Stockholm with a start date as soon as possible by agreement. Your job title will be Technical Expert.
