Company Description

Are you ready for a bigger challenge?

The Swedish Police Authority is Sweden's largest agency with approximately 40,000 employees across the country. With us, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the Police's mission – to increase safety and reduce crime in society.

Department Description

The IT Department's primary task is to provide IT services to the entire Police Authority and is an important part of the crime prevention and law enforcement work. IT is one of the most important tools for streamlining the police force and increasing the quality of police work. The IT Department develops and modernizes the police's IT, and the Authority invests heavily in strengthening the department with new specialist competence and the latest technology for the benefit of citizens and employees in the police operation.

Operational Business Systems are responsible for providing IT support for operational activities, primarily for police officers in external service. The Radio Group, where we are seeking a Project Manager, is responsible for the development, operation, administration, and lifecycle management of the Police Authority's communication technical systems, which form an integrated part of the national communication system Rakel.

We have an incredibly important mission to support operational activities while simultaneously carrying out a major effort to modernize IT systems, infrastructure, and user equipment.

One of our most important change initiatives within the IT Department is currently system development and migration to the next generation network for mobile telecommunications, based on a new EU directive. This means that the current communication system, Rakel, will be phased out and replaced by the next generation network SWEN – Swedish Emergency Network.

To our team, we are now seeking a Project Manager with strong commitment and drive to develop and implement next-generation critical societal systems and operational support for radio and mobile communication – in parallel with the operation, administration, and further development of legacy systems – which need to function safely, seamlessly, and efficiently for our Police officers who save lives, combat, and prevent crime every day.

The position is based in Stockholm and may involve travel within Sweden. As an IT Project Manager, regardless of location, you will work in cross-functional teams and collaborate with internal and external partners such as national and regional operations, subcontractors, cooperation bodies, and authorities – always close to the police operation.

Job Description

Your main responsibility will be to have a coordinating role and act as management support in a team with product responsibility for communication technical IT systems and user equipment. Together with the product owner and the team, your tasks will include:

  • Planning and execution of various assignments (projects) within the IT Department
  • Business and process development as well as facilitating workshops
  • Leadership, steering, and follow-up of teams working with development, operation, and administration
  • Management support and administrative coordination such as contract management, case handling, financial control, budget follow-up, compliance, documentation, resource and capacity planning, and internal communication.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have the following competence, experience, and merits:

  • Technical university or vocational education, or equivalent acquired work experience that the Police Authority deems equivalent
  • Several years of work experience in leading complex IT assignments in a large organization
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing
  • Good ability to express yourself in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Swedish citizenship

It is a merit if you also have experience of:

  • IT service delivery, service management, application administration, and operations
  • Leading and collaborating in complex organizations with many stakeholders
  • Cross-functional work with co-located and distributed teams
  • Management support, business development, and digital competence
  • Background in the ICT industry (information and telecommunications technology)

Personal Attributes

We are looking for someone who is self-reliant and has the ability to independently structure and drive your assignments forward. Since the role involves many points of contact, we consider it a given that you collaborate and communicate with both close colleagues and the rest of the organization in a smooth and pedagogical way to achieve common goals.
