The Family Counseling Service is located in central Halmstad and belongs to the Social Administration, Department of Children and Youth. Every day, we meet couples, families, and individuals at critical stages in their lives. The operation serves as an important promotive and preventive function, aiming to foster good family relationships in all their forms and contribute to favorable growing conditions for children.

Due to increasing demand for our services and the expansion of our operations, we are now recruiting three family counselors. The unit consists of social workers with many years of experience in psychosocial and psychotherapeutic work, as well as advanced training in psychotherapy (at least step 1) and other qualifications.

Your Responsibilities

As a family counselor, your task is to help process cohabitation problems and conflicts in family relationships through dialogue. This includes crisis intervention, short or long-term therapeutic contacts with couples, families, and individuals. You work independently with your own treatment responsibility and conduct continuous evaluation of the work together with the clients. Family counseling is for everyone; we serve people with varying socioeconomic backgrounds, different ethnicities and languages, sexual orientations, and shifting values and beliefs. Therefore, we must offer a breadth of working methods. The work also includes outward-looking promotive and preventive activities. You will participate in a joint evening reception once a week.

Your Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must hold a degree in social work and basic psychotherapy training (step 1) including supervision and personal therapy, as well as experience in family therapeutic/psychosocial treatment work.

Merits include experience working as a family counselor, as well as education in sexology, evaluated couple therapy methods, EFT, and IBCT, as well as training and experience in FIT (Feedback-Informed Treatment).

You must communicate fluently in Swedish and be willing to handle digital communication tools when necessary.

You need to be confident in your competence and enjoy working independently. You must be receptive and have the ability to collaborate and contribute to the development of the operation. We are looking for someone who wants to join a group with high engagement and a desire to contribute to families' ability to live in good relationships.
