Statistics Sweden (SCB) is the country's largest and foremost source of knowledge in statistics. Our statistics are used everywhere, at home at the kitchen table, in news reporting, and by decision-makers in the Riksdag and Government.

Number of positions: 2

Job Responsibilities

Are you a national economist/statistician with a strong interest in society? Do you like the idea of working with ongoing statistical production and contributing to the development of labor market statistics analysis? With us, you will join a team of 16 engaged colleagues working on labor market statistics, which is central to providing a picture of the situation and development in the labor market and the Swedish economy.

Together with your colleagues, you will produce, analyze, and develop monthly statistics on the labor market based on the Labour Force Survey (AKU). The surveys describe current labor market conditions for the population and provide information on labor market development.

We have extensive contact with knowledgeable and engaged users of the statistics. AKU results receive significant media attention, and we frequently receive questions from journalists.

Do you want to...

  • Work on the production and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual results for the Labour Force Survey?
  • Conduct analyses and write articles and reports on the state and development of the labor market?
  • Interact with external and internal users and produce special data processing for entities such as the Government Offices, the National Institute of Economic Research (Konjunkturinstitutet), the Riksbank, and the media?
  • Contribute to the development of labor market statistics at SCB?
  • Lead or participate in interesting development projects at SCB?

... then we believe this position could be really interesting for you!

Qualifications

We require you to have:

  • An academic degree with a social science orientation (minimum 30 credits in national economics and 30 credits in statistics).
  • Current and relevant experience in handling large data sets (data management, data processing, and analysis) and/or statistical production.
  • Good experience in analyzing and compiling analysis results in reports or shorter articles.
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing, both in Swedish and English.

We consider it particularly meritorious if you have:

  • Current experience, preferably from professional life, of investigation and analysis work and/or statistical production within the labor market area.
  • Experience in programming in e.g., SAS and/or R.

It is also meritorious if you have:

  • Experience with time series analysis and sampling.
  • Experience with analysis using quantitative methods.
  • Experience with statistical/econometric modeling.

To ensure a good match for both you and us, it is important that you have a good ability to collaborate. You work well with others and wish to be part of a team where you contribute to your colleagues' well-being and success. You enjoy taking initiative, contributing ideas, and driving work forward. You adapt easily to new conditions and have the ability to reprioritize when needs and conditions change.

As a person, you are analytical, structured, meticulous, and capable of planning and prioritizing your work efficiently. You take responsibility for your own work in a quality-conscious manner.

Employment Terms

Employment type: Permanent employment.

This position is located at the Labour Force Survey section in Solna. Depending on operational conditions, there is an opportunity to work from home for part of the time.

The employment is permanent and usually begins with a six-month probationary period. The start date will be agreed upon.

At SCB, every employee's competence and potential are important. We believe in an inclusive culture where we benefit from our diversity and differences. As an applicant, you share our approach: the courage to act, trust in each other's competence and goodwill, the drive to turn words into action, and individual responsibility to contribute to the whole.
