Researcher in Social Work – Developing and Disseminating Knowledge
Do you want to be part of the work to develop, evaluate, and disseminate knowledge about methods and interventions in social work? Do you want to contribute to supporting and strengthening an evidence-based social service?
You will work at the Research and Development (FoU) unit. The unit's mission is to generate and disseminate new knowledge through research and knowledge development to strengthen an evidence-based social service. The unit supports the social service in working based on the best available knowledge, for example by developing support for evidence-based practice. The unit develops and evaluates methods and interventions that make a difference for people in need of social service support. An important part of the mission is also to disseminate knowledge about effective methods and interventions, as well as to follow up on their usage.
Today, the unit consists of 19 employees, the majority of whom are researchers. The unit is part of the Department for Social Services at the System Level, together with two other units, within the Social Services business area.
About the Position
You will work on urgent societal issues and participate in various assignments aimed at ensuring that the social service's activities are conducted in accordance with science and proven experience. You will drive your own projects but also participate in the work of others. Tasks may include developing knowledge about, or evaluating methods and working forms in, social work. This may concern assessment methods or methods offered as interventions. Initially, the assignments will concern the area of honour-related violence and oppression. Tasks may cover all subject areas of the social service.
About You
To do a good job and thrive with us at the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen), it is important that you have good communication and collaboration skills. You need to be receptive. You need to be structured with the ability to plan and organize your work well and in accordance with set deadlines, both for yourself and in interaction with others. You need to be able to work with long-term assignments but also be able to take on tasks with shorter deadlines. To achieve value from our activities, you need to be solution-oriented and able to translate knowledge into practice. During recruitment, we will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
We are looking for someone who has:
- A PhD in social work, sociology, criminology, psychology, or related disciplines considered relevant.
- Experience of leading projects in the workplace.
- Good and current knowledge of the social service's activities, mission, organization, and challenges.
- Good experience in report writing.
- Good experience in giving oral presentations in various contexts.
- Very good communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
It is an asset if you have:
- Knowledge of honour-related violence and oppression and/or men's violence against women.
- Knowledge of children in state care.
- Knowledge of standardized assessment methods.
- Experience of practice-oriented research or knowledge development within the social service or welfare sector.
- Experience of working at a government agency.
Good to Know
The employment is a permanent full-time position starting with a six-month probationary period. You will be based at the office at Västerbroplan in Stockholm, but have the opportunity to work remotely up to two days a week. In 2027, the National Board of Health and Welfare will move to Solna Strand. Your job title will be Researcher, and your placement is at the Department for Social Services at the System Level, Research and Development (FoU) unit.
