Project Manager within Social Services – SBU

Are you passionate about knowledge, quality, and social benefit? SBU is growing and needs more people who want to contribute to a more knowledge-based social service. The Unit for Interventions for Individuals, Families, and Society, at the Department of Social Services, is now seeking a Project Manager for socially significant assignments within the field of social services.

About SBU
The Swedish Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Assessment of Social Services (SBU) is a knowledge authority under the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs. Our mission is to conduct scientific evaluations of methods within healthcare, including dental care, as well as interventions within social services and support under the LSS Act (Act on Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments). At SBU, collaboration is the foundation of a positive work environment and the core of our daily operations and product quality. The authority employs just over 100 people.

Unit Description

The unit consists of 10 employees and is led by a unit manager. We work with both government assignments and self-initiated projects within the social services sector. We evaluate interventions for children and young people, individuals in vulnerable situations, and initiatives to strengthen families and parenthood. We develop knowledge on implementation, discontinuation, organizational aspects, and community-based interventions. The unit's work includes disseminating target-group-adapted knowledge through various channels.

Job Responsibilities

As a Project Manager at SBU, you will lead the work of producing knowledge compilations and other scientifically based materials that address current needs in social services and other authorities. You will work in interdisciplinary teams with other project managers, information specialists, and health economists, collaborating with researchers, other authorities, interest organizations, and professionals.

Responsibilities also include internal development work, training, and communicating and making research results accessible. You will be supported by colleagues, external experts, and various support functions such as SBU's Scientific Council, Quality Group, Method Support, and Administrative Support.

Your main tasks include:

  • Planning and executing projects according to SBU's methodology.
  • Ensuring the quality of knowledge materials through internal processes and external experts.
  • Coordinating analyses, health economics, and ethical aspects.
  • Making results accessible and communicating them via reports, summaries, presentations, and the web.

Qualifications

  • PhD in social work, sociology, public health, criminology, political science, or an equivalent field assessed by the authority.
  • Professional experience in leading projects with multiple stakeholders, such as other authorities, professionals, and researchers.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Merits

  • Subject knowledge in one or more of the unit's core areas, such as family interventions, crime prevention, violence exposure, harmful use and addiction, employment and livelihood, homelessness, implementation, etc.
  • Experience with systematic reviews or evidence-based development work.
  • Professional experience in knowledge-based work at a government authority.
  • Knowledge of government steering and the organization of social services.

Personal Attributes

You have a talent for communication and building trusting relationships, as well as good pedagogical skills. The work requires you to be meticulous, flexible, and collaborative, with the ability to work both independently and in a group. You enjoy working in a varied role and possess high personal integrity.

We Offer

At SBU, you will have the opportunity to make a difference for society and welfare. You will have the chance to engage with research and work alongside competent and engaged colleagues in a pleasant work climate. We are located in bright offices in central Stockholm with the possibility of remote work up to two days per week (if operations allow), a generous wellness allowance, and 1.5 hours of wellness time per week during working hours.

Scope and Start Date

This is a permanent full-time position (100%). SBU applies a 6-month probationary period. Start date according to agreement.

Application

We look forward to receiving your application no later than April 26, 2026. Applications are accepted only via the authority's recruitment tool, which you can find on our website under "Vacancies".
