The Embassy is looking for a Senior Investment Adviser to join the Department for Business & Trade (DBT) team in Stockholm. Within the Embassy, the DBT leads on strengthening economic ties between the UK and Sweden, by promoting trade, supporting business growth, and helping international companies invest and expand in the UK.

What will you do?

As our new Senior Investment Adviser, your main purpose will be to promote the UK as the investment destination of choice for Swedish companies, whether they are looking to set up a subsidiary, or expand existing operations.

You will:

  • Identify opportunities by monitoring Swedish industry trends and spotting companies with potential to set up or expand in the UK.
  • Build and manage senior level relationships with business leaders, investors, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Promote the UK as the investment destination of choice, highlighting strengths across our nations and regions and within key sectors such as Advanced Manufacturing, Clean Energy Industries, Foundation Industries and Capital Investment.
  • Progress investment opportunities through the inward investment cycle, providing insight, guidance, and connections that support companies' expansion decisions.
  • Develop and maintain a 3 year active investment pipeline, ensuring accurate, timely pipeline management and forward planning.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proficiency in English and Swedish (written and spoken, minimum of C1 level for CEFR* framework).
  • A university degree (or equivalent professional experience) in business, economics, international relations, finance, or another relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of Business management & development professional experience or similar roles.
  • Proven experience of building strong, trusted working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior business contacts.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple accounts, projects, or high value activities simultaneously.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, able to interpret market information, identify leads, and support informed decision making.
  • Confident user of Excel, Word, CRM tools, Microsoft Teams and Copilot.

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

  • Understanding of UK industry strengths.
  • Experience working across multiple sectors or adapting to changing portfolios.

This is a full-time (40h per week), permanent contract of employment.

Gross monthly salary is SEK 51,583.
