Accounting Economist at the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI)
The Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) is a government agency conducting world-leading research in defence and security to support Sweden's military and civil defence. About the Position
In the role of Accounting Economist, you will have a key function in ensuring the quality of FOI's accounting. You will contribute insights that influence both future work processes and setups in our financial system. Your tasks also include supporting everything from ongoing accounting to participation in more complex accounting technical issues. You will work closely with the Head of Accounting, and together you will work to maintain good control and efficient work processes. The role also involves close collaboration with the agency's economists and controllers.
Your tasks include, among others:
- Ensuring compliance with regulations
- Documentation and development of existing working methods within the accounting area
- Active and driving force in various ongoing improvement projects within the department, e.g., related to internal control, efficiency, and improvements in the financial system
- Participation in the development and management of the financial handbook
- Participation in the annual closing
- Supporting ongoing accounting functions as needed
About the Unit
You will be part of the Finance Unit, which belongs to the Research Support Department and is located in Kista. The Finance Unit consists of two sections; the Accounting Section and the Procurement Section, as well as a central controller function. You will report to the Head of Accounting. FOI has four locations: Stockholm-Kista, Stockholm-Grindsjön, Umeå, and Linköping. The location for this position is Kista in Stockholm. The work may involve travel to our other workplaces. Do you have the competence profile we need?
Requirements
- Academic education in economics or accounting or equivalent
- At least 5 years of current and relevant work experience in qualified accounting within a large organization
- Good knowledge of regulations related to accounting
- Have a structured working method and good delivery capability
- Good ability to express yourself well orally and in writing in Swedish
