Legal Counsel (Contract Law or Administrative Law)
The Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI) is a government agency conducting world-leading research in defence and security to support Sweden's military and civil defence. About the Position
As a Legal Counsel with a focus on Contract Law, you will draft and interpret contracts and assist in contract negotiations. You will also respond to consultations, develop governing documents, draft proposals for decisions, and provide advice on legal issues within a broad legal area. You will also provide internal training on contract law matters.
As a Legal Counsel with a focus on Administrative Law, you will work with all common agency tasks, such as issues regarding public access and confidentiality, respond to consultations, develop governing documents, draft proposals for decisions, and provide advice on legal issues within a broad legal area. You will support researchers in their work with ethical review and other research ethics issues. You will also provide internal training on general administrative law as well as public access and confidentiality.
Working in the Legal Unit involves many internal and external contacts with FOI's managers, researchers, as well as companies and other authorities, both national and international.
About the Unit
FOI is located in four places: Stockholm, Umeå, Grindsjön, and Linköping. You will join the Legal Unit, which belongs to the Research Support Division. The Legal Unit currently consists of the Head of Legal and nine lawyers. The Information Management Section also belongs to the Legal Unit. The workplace for the unit is in Kista. Do you have the competence profile we need?
Requirements
- Swedish law degree.
- Experience of qualified legal work at a government agency.
- For the position as Contract Lawyer, experience in assisting with the drafting and interpretation of contracts is also required.
- For the position as Administrative Lawyer, very good knowledge of administrative law, as well as public access and confidentiality, is also required.
- Very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish, as well as good knowledge of English.
- You find it easy to collaborate, have high integrity, and are pedagogical, which is important as you will work both with other lawyers and advise other professional categories. You can work independently and take responsibility for carefully analyzing, structuring, and solving complex legal issues. You are also flexible and enjoy varied tasks. We place great importance on your personal qualities.
Merits
- For the position as Contract Lawyer, experience with research contracts and intellectual property issues is an asset.
- For the position as Administrative Lawyer, experience with research ethics or data protection issues is an asset.
- For the positions, it is also an asset if you have taught some of the relevant subjects covered by the position.
