Adapted Primary School

The adapted school forms are a unique educational setting for students who are assessed to not have the prerequisites to meet the knowledge requirements of primary or secondary school due to an intellectual disability.

The adapted school forms have their own curriculum, and the teaching is tailored to each student's prerequisites and needs. Within the adapted school forms in Gotland, we teach students from grades 1-9 in adapted primary school and grades 1-4 in adapted secondary school.

Currently, we have about 75 students enrolled in adapted primary school and about 40 students enrolled in adapted secondary school. Our staff contributes to the learning and development of children, youth, and adults in Gotland. The activities within the adapted school forms are currently located in several schools around the island.

Your Responsibilities

We are now looking for a teacher in after-school care/leisure educator with a strong interest in people and the ability to create good relationships. As a leisure educator within the adapted primary school, you work based on each student's development and prerequisites. The students have an intellectual disability and are at different developmental levels.

As a teacher in after-school care/leisure educator, you are responsible for planning and implementing the educational activities. You are also involved in the systematic quality work. You are part of the student's school day and, in the afternoon, part of the after-school care group. You work based on students' needs, interests, and prerequisites. The work can sometimes be physically demanding and includes some personal care.

Who Are You?

We are looking for you who are a qualified teacher in after-school care/leisure educator. A driver's license is required for the position. Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or impairments is an advantage.

You have a strong interest in people and the ability to create good relationships. You are flexible, solution-oriented, and responsive to the individual prerequisites of the students. It is required that you are calm and pedagogical with great patience and the ability to create security for each student. You have a positive attitude towards work.

You need to have clarity in your actions. You speak, read, and write Swedish fluently. We place great emphasis on previous experiences and personality. The work requires your ability to plan and prioritize your tasks. Good knowledge of the school's governing documents is required. It is important that you are good at collaborating with others to achieve set goals together.

About the Education and Labor Administration

As part of Region Gotland, we contribute in the Education and Labor Administration to the learning and development of children, youth, and adults. We are responsible for, among other things, preschool, primary school, after-school care, adapted primary and secondary schools, cultural schools, upper secondary and adult education, labor market initiatives, youth centers, and the reception and establishment of newcomers. Together, we provide opportunities for lifelong learning.
