Södervärnskolan

Södervärnskolan is a primary school serving students in grades 4-9. The school currently has about 660 students, of which about 150 are in grades 4-6 and the rest in grades 7-9. There is also an after-school program at the school. The catchment area includes southern Visby, Eskelhem, Västerhejde, Träkumla, and Stenkumla.

Södervärnskolan actively works to lay the foundation for a good learning climate by creating good relationships so that students feel comfortable and secure. The starting point in teaching is the individual student's needs and abilities, which are developed in groups, resulting in good collaboration skills and social competence.

A prerequisite for students' learning is that teachers can point out the next steps in the development process. This gives students a goal to strive for, and they should know how to get there. Students should leave school as knowledge-seeking and critically examining individuals with good self-confidence, humanistic values, and engagement.

The school uses computers as digital learning tools and Unikum as a learning platform. The school has a newly renovated and staffed library and school café, as well as social pedagogues for extra security for the students. A counselor and school nurse are present at the school daily.

Södervärnskolan has a good sports hall and access to its own classrooms for home economics, art, music, and crafts. The school has its own kitchen that serves fantastic food.

Your Responsibilities

You will work as a teacher of German in our fantastic faculty at Södervärnskolan, where you will embark on a developing journey together with us! You will teach grades 6-9 and be a mentor and responsible for a class together with a colleague. The teaching of German is at 70%, but there is an opportunity to work 100% with teaching in another subject depending on possible qualifications in additional subjects.

Your role includes planning, implementing, and following up on teaching based on students' conditions, as well as documenting students' learning processes and contributing to the development of the subject and the school's activities together with other teachers. You will be part of a working team where you collectively are responsible for the students' academic and social development.

At Södervärnskolan, you will meet an enthusiastic and competent staff group with a forward-thinking attitude and a desire to continuously develop. You will have access to subject teacher colleagues who plan, evaluate, and follow up on teaching together.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with a subject teacher degree in German and who is qualified to teach grades 6-9. It is an advantage if you also have another subject as a combination with German. We consider previous experience in educational work as merit. Experience working in a team is also advantageous.
