Södervärnskolan

Södervärnskolan is a primary school serving students in grades 4-9.

The school currently has 660 students, of which 150 are in grades 4-6 and the rest in grades 7-9. There is also an after-school program at the school. The catchment area includes southern Visby, Eskelhem, Västerhejde, Träkumla, and Stenkumla.

Södervärnskolan actively works to lay the foundation for a good learning climate by creating good relationships so that students feel comfortable and secure. In teaching, the starting point is the individual student's needs and abilities, which develop in groups, resulting in good collaboration skills and social competence.

A prerequisite for students' learning is that teachers can point out the next steps in the development process. This gives students the opportunity to have a goal to strive for, and they should know how to get there. Students should leave school as knowledge-seeking and critically examining individuals with good self-confidence, humanistic values, and engagement.

Students have their own computers as digital working tools. The school has a librarian and social pedagogues for extra support for students. A counselor and school nurse are present at the school daily. The school has a well-developed organization for special support run by special educators and special teachers.

Södervärnskolan has a good sports hall and access to its own classrooms for home economics and crafts. The school has its own kitchen providing fantastic food and a school library with a wide range of literature.

Your Responsibilities

You will be part of a year team with colleagues at the upper secondary level. Your team will also include subject colleagues teaching the same subjects. The position includes mentorship for a class together with another teacher in your team.

The school has a special focus on reading, which all teachers at the school are part of.

Who are you?

We are looking for a certified teacher with qualifications in physics and technology for grades 7-9. Experience in teaching and pedagogical work is a prerequisite, as is familiarity with the subjects of physics and technology for grades 7-9.
