Care for Individuals with Disabilities

In our care services, we assist individuals with various disabilities.

We work to facilitate and support our users in managing practical aspects of daily life. The goal is for them to achieve as independent a life as possible.

We have several child and youth services, such as short-term accommodation, short-term supervision, youth housing, and housing with special services for children.

We are now looking for a preschool teacher or support assistant for our short-term supervision service according to LSS in Visby. The role also includes work at our children's home.

Your Responsibilities

You will focus on ensuring that the children's needs are met based on decisions made under LSS.

The work involves meeting children with neuropsychiatric, intellectual, and physical disabilities in short-term supervision at Pantern after school hours, where you, together with other staff, plan, implement, and evaluate pedagogically oriented leisure activities related to each individual's implementation plan, abilities, and knowledge level for a positive, meaningful, and developing leisure time.

At the children's home, a typical workday may involve supporting during meals and morning routines, ensuring that children get to school, welcoming them home, and providing care, such as hygiene and showering. You create and participate in activities that inspire, develop, and bring joy, serving as a secure role model and a stable presence in a warm, home-like environment.

Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, weekends, and nights.

Who Are You?

We are looking for someone who is a licensed preschool teacher. As a support assistant, you should have an approved education focused on care and support, child and leisure, social pedagogy, or personal assistance. A B driver's license is required for the position.

It is an advantage if you have education and/or experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, preferably with children/youth, experience with pedagogical methods, challenging behaviors, low-arousal responses, sign language communication, and visual support, as well as knowledge of LSS, SOL, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

We seek someone who is genuinely interested in working with children/youth, has the ability to see the individual child's needs and abilities, and is comfortable both working alone and in a team.

To thrive in this role, you need to be solution-focused, flexible, patient, self-assured, and able to respond in a low-arousal manner professionally. You are positive and service-oriented, creative, and have the ability and knowledge to plan and implement activities that contribute to children's development based on their needs and wishes.

The work may involve lifting and requires good physical condition to engage in activities with children both indoors and outdoors.
