Terra Novaskolan

Terra Novaskolan is a primary school with operations from preschool class to year 6. The school has an after-school program with three departments. The catchment area is Terra Nova, and currently, about 160 students attend here. Terra Novaskolan is located in a picturesque area that, along with the schoolyard, provides many opportunities for outdoor learning play. There are football fields, school forests, hills, and a skateboard park. We have organized break activities. The school has a kitchen and its own sports hall.

The school has a high proportion of qualified and engaged teachers and after-school educators who work to ensure that all students gain good knowledge and strong self-confidence. We have clear focus areas for each stage, and we strive for joy in work for both big and small. The school's guiding principles are: safety, knowledge, participation, and a calm working environment.

Terra Novaskolan's middle school consists of three classes in grades 4-6.

Your Responsibilities

The position involves teaching in one or more grades based on subject qualifications and competencies. You will collaborate with all teachers at the school, but primarily within the middle school's work team, which facilitates finding consensus regarding teaching, approaches, implementing decisions, and joint activities.

We are looking for a teacher who inspires, develops, and has an inclusive perspective where you adapt the learning environment so that all students can thrive. You maintain structured teaching based on the current curriculum, follow up and analyze your teaching and students' results.

You are a clear leader in the classroom and dare to try new paths to constantly strive to improve your teaching. You work with high expectations and see good relationships with students and guardians as the natural starting point for your work. In collaboration with colleagues, you create engaging learning environments from a clear and relational perspective. You will collaborate with the school's student health team. The position may be adjusted based on the applicant's competencies.

Who Are You?

You who are applying are a licensed teacher or waiting to receive your teaching license for grades 4-6. It is desirable that you have qualifications in English.

You have a positive outlook and believe in each individual's desire to develop and learn. You are unpretentious and solution-focused and understand the benefits of working in a team and learning together. You have knowledge of or interest in learning about accessible learning environments and see the importance of adapting your teaching based on students' needs from a relational perspective.

You are confident in your teaching role, a clear leader, and well-acquainted with the school's governing documents, as well as having a view of children where an inclusive approach at the school is a given. You have the ability to meet students by spreading a positive study atmosphere in your teaching. You work independently and have good leadership both in and out of the classroom, as well as capturing and stimulating students' curiosity, interest, and learning. You have high and positive expectations of students and their ability to develop.

You want to develop and are an engaged employee who is good at creating good relationships with both guardians and students as well as colleagues. We are looking for someone who is attentive to children's needs, driven, initiative-taking, and positive with many ideas, as well as being goal- and solution-oriented.

About the Education and Employment Administration

As part of Region Gotland, we contribute in the Education and Employment Administration to the learning and development of children, young people, and adults. We are responsible for, among other things, preschools, primary schools, after-school programs, adapted primary and secondary schools, culture schools, upper secondary and adult education, labor market initiatives, youth centers, and the reception and establishment of newcomers. Together, we provide opportunities for lifelong learning.
