Preliminary Investigation Leader at the Police Authority

The Stockholm South Police Area is Sweden's largest police area. Nearly 1 million residents live and work here. The Stockholm South Police Area is divided into eight local police areas, of which the Södertälje local police area is part of the Stockholm South Police Area. Within the local police area, there are intervention and crime prevention activities, investigation groups, as well as support and service. The Södertälje local police area includes several areas classified as vulnerable and particularly vulnerable, with complex problem profiles related to organized crime and criminal networks.

To break the negative trend of organized crime and vulnerable areas in Södertälje, the Stockholm South Police Area has decided on various initiatives and ambition increases. In 2020, the police area's joint initiative TORE III was launched, aimed at enhancing police capability in Södertälje and significantly reducing the criminals' impact on the local community. In March 2023, the next step was taken against organized crime in Södertälje when the Operational Council decided on the Ragnhild initiative, a joint effort against criminal economy.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The position of Preliminary Investigation Leader means that you will be the sole decision-maker in several of the local police area's preliminary investigations and act as a team leader for a group of investigators. You prioritize, allocate resources, and follow up on cases while participating in the organization's change and development work. Furthermore, you work closely with investigators, other preliminary investigation leaders, group managers, and prosecutors. You are also responsible for setting goals and achieving results that lead to desired effects.

QUALIFICATIONS

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • Swedish police degree or other education that the employer considers relevant for the position
  • The Police Authority's national preliminary investigation training or other comparable training that qualifies you to lead preliminary investigations
  • Very good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
  • Good computer skills

We consider it an advantage if you also have:

  • Held a supervisory position
  • Experience in investigations that the employer assesses as relevant
  • Experience in leading preliminary investigations and/or investigations
  • Experience working with covert coercive measures

As the local police area's investigative work is undergoing a change process, it is important that you have the ability to lead others and see opportunities in changes. You need to be able to handle several ongoing cases simultaneously, which is why it is also important that you are proactive, flexible, and can prioritize based on the flow of cases. We also see that you demonstrate good judgment in decision-making and actions and have a good ability to communicate messages to others both verbally and in writing.

Furthermore, it is essential for you to be humble in recognizing that we collaborate with both internal and external actors and understand the importance of good cooperation. You have a holistic view and understanding of the police's mission and goals and want to contribute to an open and tolerant climate where diversity, equality, and the police's values are a given.
