We are looking for an experienced Interim Payroll Manager for an international company in Gothenburg. The assignment starts immediately and runs for at least 3 months. There is an opportunity for some remote work.

In this role, you will lead a team of payroll and benefits specialists and have overall responsibility for a smaller team of People Specialists who handle onboarding/offboarding and employee matters.

This is a leadership role that combines practical payroll expertise, personnel management, and process improvement. You will ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing, act as a subject matter expert in Swedish payroll administration, collective agreements, and benefits, and drive process improvements. The role also involves collaboration with Nordic colleagues, and you will report to the Director of People Services in England.

Main areas of responsibility

• Payroll process: Responsible for end-to-end payroll, compliance with laws, taxes, and reporting, as well as handling complex payroll issues.
• Team leadership: Lead, coach, and develop teams of payroll and benefits specialists; set goals and promote high service quality.
• Benefits and governance: Responsible for employee benefits, pensions, and insurance, as well as ensuring compliance with collective agreements and labor law.
• Collaboration and process: Work closely with HR, Finance, Legal, and external vendors, and drive process improvements and system optimizations.

Qualifications and experience for the role

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
• At least 7 years of experience in Swedish payroll management, including personnel responsibility
• In-depth knowledge of payroll legislation, taxes, pensions, and collective agreements
• Documented experience in leading and developing payroll teams
• Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms; SuccessFactors and ServiceNow are advantageous
