The advisory service is part of the unit for Sustainable Consumption and Personal Finance and consists of both consumer advice and budget and debt counseling. The current position is within budget and debt counseling, but in the unit, we strive to use skills flexibly and encourage the development of expertise in both advisory fields, with teams working together in various ways.

The unit consists of 20 employees and is led by a unit manager. In addition to advisors, there is a coordinator responsible for initiating, driving, and coordinating business development, as well as supporting the operations and unit manager in various matters. In the budget and debt counseling team, there is close supervision and support in daily work from a senior advisor. The group also has continuous external supervision.

Job Responsibilities

As an advisor in budget and debt counseling, you provide financial advice to indebted individuals according to the Social Services Act. You work with individual counseling based on the applicant's needs and circumstances, with the goal of helping them achieve sustainable finances. You tailor the advice to the individual you meet. Your task is to convey clear consequence descriptions in a pedagogical manner, adapted to the individual's needs, abilities, and possibilities. You provide information, advice, and support regarding debt restructuring and inform about relevant laws and their application to individuals and entrepreneurs. The work also includes budget counseling and support during the debt restructuring period.

The counseling takes place through physical meetings, phone, or email. As an advisor, you also have a role in the organization's outreach work, such as giving lectures and participating in media. We continuously work to develop collaboration with various external and internal actors in the field, and you are an important part of this effort.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree of at least three years in behavioral science, law, social sciences, or equivalent. You have previous experience in meeting people, for example from counseling, service, customer contacts, social services, or other relevant areas.

You have experience in meeting people in difficult life situations. Experience in case management or advisory work in these areas is also an advantage.

You are a confident person with good collaboration skills who can work independently and in cooperation both within the unit, department, and other parts of the organization. You are service-oriented and communicative, adapting your communication to the recipient, target group, and situation. Since you will be meeting people in difficult life situations, you need to be able to act sensitively while also having the ability to set boundaries and stick to the task.

To thrive and succeed in the role, it is important that you are interested in people's different living conditions, social work, and working through various channels to reach out with information and connect with citizens who may need our services. It is also important that you have good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Of course, you share the administration's and the city's approach: We know our mission and who we are here for, we care, we work together, and we think innovatively.

Conditions

We offer permanent employment. Working hours are scheduled on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Selection and interviews will be conducted continuously during the application period. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. We kindly but firmly decline calls from sellers of additional job advertisements and recruitment services. We prefer that you register your application via the recruitment system. If you, as an applicant, have questions about the advertised position or for special reasons cannot register your details in a public system, please contact one of the contact persons in the advertisement.
