About the job

The City Library in Uddevalla is looking for a temporary project leader for Bokstart.

Bokstart is a national initiative aimed at the youngest children (0–3 years) and the adults around them, with the aim of early stimulating language development. Your role is to drive and develop the project in collaboration with library staff, child health care, open preschools, family preschools, and kindergartens. You will meet families with small children in individual meetings and parent groups, where you show how to read to small children and explain how caregivers can support their language development. Together with other library staff, you will carry out program activities aimed at the target group.

Some activities within Bokstart are located at our three local libraries, which are easily accessible by public transport or car.

The project offers good opportunities for further education in reading promotion for the youngest children.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all contact with our partners – child health care, open preschools, family preschools, and kindergartens.
  • Organize, book, and hold individual meetings with families participating in Bokstart.
  • Organize, book, and hold meetings with parent groups from child health care and open baby meetings.
  • Plan and implement program activities in the library and with partners together with other library staff.
  • Network and share knowledge about the work with Bokstart Uddevalla both locally and nationally with library staff.
  • Have shifts at the information desk in the children's department.

You will be part of a team of librarians who work with Bokstart as part of their regular duties.

Who are we looking for?

  • is good at collaborating, as you are part of a team with other library staff who also work with Bokstart.
  • is flexible, to be able to adapt to changes that may arise in working with people.

We would like you to have knowledge of or interest in early childhood media and children's language development to inspire Bokstart's target group to read. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Qualifications

You should:

  • Have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish in both speech and writing.

It is meritorious if you:

  • Have experience in project management.
  • Have previously worked with the target group of children 0–3 years and their adults.

We prefer that you fit into the role and team rather than having a specific education.
