The administration encompasses areas such as urban planning, infrastructure, strategic planning, and environmental and health protection.

Your new job

As the head of the Infrastructure and Construction Department, you will be responsible for traffic issues, operation and maintenance of streets, parks, and landscapes, as well as for the implementation of all infrastructure and development projects.

You will have the opportunity to be involved in the development work within the administration at all different stages of the community building process, from early planning stages to construction, commissioning, and management. You will be offered responsibility for an operation that has significant engagement and interest from politics and citizens.

You will be part of various strategic groupings within and outside the administration. You will be a presenter in the Technical Committee, where certain matters will be prepared for the Municipal Executive Board and the Municipal Council. As the head of the department, you will have budget and personnel responsibility, report to the Director of Community Building, and be part of the administration's management group. The department you will be responsible for consists of several teams with a total of about 15 employees.

Your main tasks

  • Lead the department with responsibility for operational planning, follow-up, and development.
  • Ensure a good and sustainable work environment, leadership, and competence development for employees.
  • Have full financial responsibility for operational, investment, and reinvestment budgets.
  • Plan and follow up the municipality's total investments within the area of operations.
  • Ensure procurements within the department and ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure that processes, routines, and quality and environmental management systems are current and followed.
  • Staff development projects and cross-departmental projects with the right competence.
  • Collaborate with other departments, administrations, external actors, and citizens.
  • Represent the department in strategic groups both internally and externally.

Your profile

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A Master's degree in engineering or another relevant higher education in community building.
  • Several years of experience working with municipal community building issues in a municipality.
  • Documented experience in leadership, governance, follow-up, and financial responsibility within the community building area.
  • Experience being responsible for development projects or larger investment projects.
  • Good knowledge and experience of procurement according to the Public Procurement Act.
  • Knowledge of operational and management issues within streets, parks, and traffic.
  • Experience and interest in improvement and development work.
  • Very good communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written.

Meritorious:

  • Experience as a manager within streets, parks, traffic, and/or project departments.
  • Experience reporting to political committees.
