We are now looking for an engaged and present section manager for the Detention Center in Märsta in the North region.

Your workplace

The North region has about 2,000 employees and is one of the agency's three regions. The operations in the region encompass all types of the agency's case categories and detention centers and are organized into 9 sections, about 90 units, and a regional office. The region is headquartered in Sundbyberg with operations from Flen to Boden. In the coming years, significant changes will occur in many areas of the Migration Agency, and the organization will be continuously adjusted and changed to provide the best possible conditions for development.

About the Detention Center

The Migration Agency's detention operations are in an exciting development phase with changes in legislation, organization, and the expansion of more detention places to reach the goal of 1,000 places. The agency currently has detention centers in all three regions, and for the North region, the detention centers are organized into three sections in Märsta, Flen, and Gävle.

Your mission

As a section manager, you have a central role in leading and developing an operation in constant change, in accordance with the Migration Agency's operational plan and strategies. You are responsible for creating an efficient and sustainable organization and ensuring that the units within the section achieve set goals, with a good working environment.

You lead the section's management team, which consists of the section's unit managers. As a section manager, you provide the unit managers with the conditions to carry out their respective unit assignments and ensure continuous operational development within the section and region.

You work closely with the unit managers and seek their support in your work as you lead and develop the section, both in the daily and long-term perspective. You ensure that there are conditions for participation, collaboration, and for the goals to be implemented, realized, and followed up.

You have overall responsibility for personnel, budget, and working environment, reporting to the regional director. You are part of the region's management team and contribute with your commitment and competence to develop the operational activities in the North region as a whole. You also participate in one or more cross-agency operational management groups within the areas you are responsible for. There, you ensure together with section managers from other regions that the operations are conducted efficiently and legally, and develop to meet future needs.

You lead with courage and clarity, which means you do not hesitate to make decisions even in changing times. You ensure that everyone understands why decisions are made and what they mean for them and the organization as a whole. You have the ability to work strategically and analytically, with a clear overall view and good communication skills. Your working method is structured, and you are driven by creating results through collaboration and development.

In our work as civil servants, high demands are also placed on good judgment and a high level of security and confidentiality awareness.

We are looking for you who have:

  • an academic degree (at least 120 credits) in a relevant field or other education combined with current and relevant work experience
  • managerial experience with responsibility for operations, employees, working environment, and budget
  • experience of being a manager over other managers
  • several years of experience leading and developing operations in change
  • experience in breaking down strategic assignments into operational goals
  • very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • experience in managerial positions within a government agency
  • experience of a process-oriented working method
  • good insight into the government budget process and Swedish public administration
  • knowledge of the Migration Agency's operations and mission.

Information

Employment type: Temporary position until January 15, 2027.
Working hours: Office hours with the possibility of an agreement on trust-based working hours
Location: Märsta, travel within Sweden may occur in the position
Start date: By agreement
