Job Description
Are you ready to take the helm of Sweden's largest boating organization and lead 190,000 enthusiastic members towards new horizons? The Swedish Boating Union (SBU) is seeking a dynamic Secretary General who can skillfully and passionately navigate our operations.
You will represent SBU and manage communication with media, authorities, and organizations both nationally and internationally. Your goal is to make SBU an active and well-known boating organization that takes care of boat owners' interests and promotes the organization's ideas and objectives.
Additionally, you will be responsible for personnel, finance, information, and services to federations, boating clubs, and members, as well as initiating the development of operations.
Your role includes being the CEO of SBU's subsidiary SBUFAB, which is the parent company of the magazine Båtliv and coordinates the Swedish Boating Union's communication efforts.

You thrive in a non-profit organization and have the ability to navigate complex decision-making processes. In the final stage of the process, selected candidates will undergo two tests; a problem-solving test (Matrigma) and a personality test (MAP).

Responsibilities
- Represent SBU in contacts with media, authorities, and other organizations, both nationally and internationally.
- Work to ensure that SBU is an active and well-known boating organization that speaks for boat owners' interests and promotes our ideas and objectives.
- Be responsible for the management of SBU's personnel, finance, information, and services to our federations, boating clubs, and members.
- CEO of SBUFAB
- Act as the link between the board and operations and initiate business development.
Qualifications
- Relevant post-secondary education in finance, organization, and leadership or documented equivalent work experience
- Documented boating experience, preferably as an active member of a boating club
- Documented competence in the field of communication
- Documented leadership qualities, preferably from a member-driven organization
- Good familiarity with digital tools and understanding of the IT field
- Good knowledge of finance and association governance
- Interest and commitment to environmental and other boating policy issues related to boating
- Fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
- Service-oriented attitude and strategic thinking
- Strong collaborative skills and high communicative ability
About the Company
Swedish Boating Union
The Swedish Boating Union (SBU) is a nationwide boating organization with 190,000 members from 900 boating clubs in 22 federations. The clubs are public benefit and non-profit organizations and are geographically spread across the country. The size of the clubs varies greatly, from 25 members to over 2000 members. SBU has an office with 5 employees today and is located on Djurgården in Stockholm. Funding is mainly through membership fees from the boating clubs.
