Do you want to help develop the youth activities of the future in one of Sweden's most dynamic municipalities? Upplands-Bro municipality is looking for an engaged and secure department manager for Youth, with the task of leading and developing our open leisure and youth activities.

About the assignment
As department manager, you are responsible for the Youth department and lead a team of dedicated employees who work closely with young people in their everyday lives. Our goal is to create safe, inclusive, and meaningful environments where young people can grow, develop, and feel involved.
You work in close collaboration with team leaders and are an active and important part of the management group of the Culture and Leisure Office.
Your role includes, among other things:
- Having personnel responsibility and ensuring a good and sustainable work environment
- Being responsible for the department's budget and ongoing financial monitoring and forecasts
- Leading and developing youth centers and youth activities based on the established policy for Open Youth Activities
- Following up, analyzing, and further developing the methods and practices of the activities
- Ensuring a child rights perspective, safety-promoting work, and an inclusive approach in the activities
- Driving collaboration with internal and external relevant actors
- Participating in the office's management group and contributing to strategic issues within culture and leisure
- Building relationships, being visible in the activities, and acting as support for employees in their daily work
We are looking for someone who has:
- Relevant higher education or other training/experience that the employer assesses as equivalent
- Documented managerial experience within municipal or other politically governed activities
- Experience in leading open youth activities
- Basic financial competence
- Good digital skills and familiarity with administrative systems
- Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written

About the position
The position is a permanent employment with a start date according to agreement. A probationary period may be applied.
About the recruitment process
You can easily apply by attaching your CV, but without a cover letter. Instead, answer our selection questions. Candidates who are assessed to meet the job's requirements (i.e., education, knowledge, and experience) will be invited to take a psychological test. Selection and interviews are ongoing.
Collaboration is a central part of our managerial appointments, meaning that final candidates will meet with union representatives as an integrated part of the recruitment process. These meetings take place at the municipal office in Kungsängen. A background check on the final candidate will be conducted in connection with reference checks.
