Parliamentary Administration is looking for a Secretary to the EU Committee
The Parliamentary Administration is an authority tasked with facilitating the work of the Parliament. Approximately 700 politically neutral employees work at the Parliamentary Administration with many different types of tasks.
The EU Committee is the parliamentary body that the government consults with before decisions in the EU Council of Ministers and before meetings with the European Council. The EU Committee is assisted by a secretariat consisting of eight employees, including the department's system administrator. Ministers typically consult with the committee on Fridays before upcoming council meetings. The secretariat also handles a number of written consultations. The secretariat belongs to the committee department, which consists of the secretariats of the 15 committees and the EU Committee, as well as the evaluation and research secretariat.
Your Responsibilities
The secretariat's task is to support the committee's work. This means that the secretariat prepares the EU Committee's consultations with the government before meetings in the EU Council of Ministers and the European Council. The secretariat also assists the committee in connection with participation in inter-parliamentary work, study trips, and study visits and is responsible for implementation. The Secretary plans and leads the activities within the secretariat and has personnel responsibility within the secretariat. The EU Committee's work is largely governed by our external environment, which places high demands on flexibility as well as collaboration and decision-making ability. In addition, the Secretary participates in the management group for the department and in the work on the development of the department.
Your Qualifications
You should have an academic degree, preferably with a legal or social science orientation, and solid experience in working with EU issues. Experience and good knowledge of the decision-making processes within the government, parliament, and the EU system are advantageous, as is experience working at one of the EU's institutions. You should have a good understanding and interest in the conditions of politics, and it is valuable if you have worked as a non-political official in a politically governed organization. You should also be interested in organizational development. Experience in a managerial role or other leadership experience is an advantage.
As a manager within the Parliamentary Administration, you should have an overview and be able to understand the whole, act from an employer perspective, stimulate employees to participate and develop, and set realistic goals that can be achieved within given frameworks. Great importance will be placed on your personal qualities, especially your ability to collaborate and communicate.
The Parliamentary Administration applies for fixed-term management appointments.
The position is classified in a security class, which in this case requires Swedish citizenship and approved security clearance.
- Employment type: Permanent employment
- Scope: Full-time
The Parliamentary Administration applies a probationary period.
