Chief of Staff

Job Description

In your managerial role, you will have personnel responsibility for three group managers. An important part of your tasks is to lead, motivate, and involve the group managers so that they and their employees can collaborate effectively on common issues and support each other in their work. The authority is in an expansion phase, and you are expected to develop the operational support to be efficient and sustainable based on new conditions. The work is carried out with a strong focus on safety issues. You create an inclusive work environment characterized by engagement and respect. The role also includes making decisions on certain matters related to the unit's area of responsibility and ensuring that the matters presented to the Director General are comprehensively addressed and in line with guidelines and practices. You are a member of the authority's management team and play a central role in implementing the Director General's leadership and governance of the authority.

Qualifications

  • Academic degree in economics, law, political science, or a related field
  • Several years of relevant managerial experience, including personnel and operational responsibility
  • Experience in government management and organizational development
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish

Meritorious

  • Experience in leading managers
  • Experience in leading a support function
  • Experience in change management
  • Experience working in a management team in the public sector
  • Experience working with the Government Offices
  • Experience in security work and handling confidential information
  • Experience and interest in foreign and security policy

We are looking for someone with a good ability to organize and prioritize tasks. This means you have a structured approach to work where you are both meticulous and conscientious. You are solution-oriented and have a very good ability to collaborate and make decisions to achieve common goals. We place great importance on your personal qualities.

Unit for Operational Support

The main task of the unit is to provide service and be an internal support so that the core operations can carry out their assignments in a simple and efficient manner. The unit currently has about 35 employees and consists of three groups: IT and security, Personnel, finance, administration and communication, and Law and supervision. In 2026, the unit is planned to grow to 40 employees. The employees and managers in the groups have many different competencies and work together on several issues, such as procurement, security, and archives. Within the Law and supervision group, some administrative law matters and the authority's supervisory assignments are also handled, i.e., part of the authority's core operations.

About Employment at ISP

The employment is permanent and begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date is by agreement. The employment includes an obligation to be placed in a war position.

To work with us, Swedish citizenship is required. The position is classified in a security class, and a security clearance with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. Since a large part of the tasks involves handling confidential information, the possibility of remote work is very limited.
