Unit Manager for Technical Operations in Water and Sewage
Do you want to lead an organization that is in an exciting phase of development and play a key role in securing the future of water and sewage operations?
We offer you
We are now looking for a dedicated and confident unit manager who wants to take responsibility for our technical operations unit – a team of six competent employees in operations and maintenance who work every day to deliver a stable and sustainable water supply.
With us, you will step into a situation where the water unit's operations are divided into two units, one focusing on facilities and renewal of our pipeline network and a technical operations unit, which you will shape, develop, and lead into the next chapter.
About us
The technical unit of water operations is responsible for the daily operation of the municipality's water and sewage facilities – from pumping stations, fire hydrants, and valves to replacing water meters, sampling, and functional checks. We ensure that residents and businesses receive clean drinking water and safe sewage management around the clock. The work is characterized by high technical competence, preparedness, environmental responsibility, and a strong focus on operational reliability and service. The unit consists of dedicated technicians who together drive and develop one of society's most critical infrastructures. The unit also collaborates closely with the water operations' facilities unit, which is responsible for the renewal and development of the municipality's pipeline network.
About the position
As the unit manager for the technical part of the water unit, you are responsible for leading, developing, and coordinating a team of technicians who work with operations, maintenance, and optimization of the municipality's water and sewage facilities. Your mission includes ensuring that operations are conducted efficiently and safely, in accordance with applicable legislation, environmental requirements, and internal guidelines.
Your responsibilities:
As a unit manager, you have overall responsibility for operations, personnel, and finances within the unit. You lead and develop employees and create good conditions for a safe, secure, and efficient operation. The role includes responsibility for recruitment, onboarding, competence development, work environment, and staffing.
You are responsible for ensuring that water and sewage operations are conducted stably, safely, and cost-effectively. This means planning, prioritizing, and following up on operational and maintenance work, as well as coordinating resources and managing operational disturbances when necessary.
Furthermore, you drive development and improvement work in line with the organization's goals. You participate in long-term planning of investments and maintenance and contribute to developed working methods and increased digitization.
Your mission also includes responsibility for budget, follow-up, and resource planning. You ensure that operations are conducted in accordance with applicable legislation, authority requirements, and internal governing documents regarding work environment, environment, and quality.
As part of the recruitment process, we conduct a background check before employment.
Are you the one we are looking for:
We are looking for someone who has:
- Experience in a leadership role within water and sewage, such as a team leader, project manager, or manager.
- Good understanding of the processes of water and sewage operations, such as production, distribution, pipeline networks, and sewage management.
- Good administrative skills, with experience in planning, follow-up, and documentation.
- Good communication skills and the ability to create clarity and collaboration within the organization.
- Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish, as the position requires ongoing communication and written documentation.
It is advantageous if you have:
- Technical education in a relevant field, or equivalent technical competence acquired through experience in water and sewage.
- Experience working with operational and monitoring systems, such as for pumping stations or similar technical facilities.
- Experience working in municipal operations or another politically governed organization.
As a person, we are looking for someone who is results-oriented, takes responsibility for their work, and ensures that set goals are achieved with good quality. You are collaborative and enjoy working together with others, contributing to a positive and trusting collaborative climate.
You are a confident person who acts professionally even in challenging situations and instills confidence in meetings with others. At the same time, you are persuasive in your communication and have the ability to create understanding and engagement in a clear and attentive manner.
Warm welcome with your application!
We only accept applications via our recruitment system. Background checks may occur during the recruitment process.
