Our Operations

The Building and Environment Department consists of a unit that almost exclusively works with regulatory enforcement, service, and advice.

The department is responsible for municipal supervision and assessment work in various types of cases related to construction, shoreline protection, sewage, food, and environmental and health protection. On January 1, 2026, a new organization was formed within the Building and Environment Department, where supervision and processing in health protection, alcohol, food, and tobacco were gathered into a unit with 8 employees.

Your Mission

Do you want to lead an operation that makes a concrete difference for both people and businesses in our municipality? As a unit manager, you will play a key role in developing and driving an important community mission forward.

You are responsible for ensuring that the unit works efficiently, legally, and with high quality. Through a coaching and present leadership style, you create a safe, pleasant, and engaging work environment where employees have the opportunity to grow and contribute their expertise.

In this role, you will alternate between strategic work and operational issues. You build good collaborations, work solution-oriented, and lead the operation with transparency and professionalism. As a unit manager, you represent the municipality in various contexts and collaborate closely with citizens, entrepreneurs, politicians, and other authorities.

The unit's mission includes supervision in food, environment, health, as well as alcohol and tobacco. Together with your employees, you ensure that supervision and processing are carried out according to legislation and that it is easy to do the right thing for those affected. You drive the development of working methods and processes and work towards a more service-oriented, digital, and efficient regulatory enforcement.

You have budget and result responsibility and follow up on goals, assignments, and resource use. By translating political decisions into well-functioning operations, you create value for the entire municipality.

Your Experience

  • You have experience in regulatory enforcement within one of the unit's operational areas (alcohol, tobacco, health protection, food).
  • You have an academic background with a university degree in community building, economics, law, environment, social sciences, or equivalent as assessed by the employer.
  • You have good digital skills and are accustomed to working in various case management systems and digital tools for document management, communication, and planning.
  • You need to have a B driver's license.
  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken in Swedish.

  • Experience as a leader with personnel, operational, and budget responsibility.
  • Experience working in a politically governed organization.
