We are now looking for a study counselor for a temporary position at 75% for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

About the job

The position as a study counselor primarily involves providing support and guidance to both national and international students within the programs and independent courses offered by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The location for this position will be at Campus Valla, Linköping.

The work includes providing support and guidance to individual students and groups at LiU regarding educational-related issues and questions concerning the upcoming job market. This is done through individual counseling sessions, guidance via email, information about studies and their structure, follow-up on study results, and support regarding the student's entry into the labor market. The daily work also involves close collaboration with program managers, subject representatives, and other administrative staff. The work is characterized by an annual cycle that requires good planning and includes periods of high workload.

Additionally, it includes providing study information in both Swedish and English to prospective students, participating in student receptions, and introducing new students. The position also involves collaborating with other units both within and outside LiU and, when necessary, referring to other actors who can support the student, as well as guidance regarding exchange studies. As a study counselor within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, you are also expected to be able to take on other administrative tasks as needed.

About you

As a person, you take responsibility for your work, are self-driven, and push it forward. The working method for the study counselor is preventive, supportive, coordinating, investigative, and always with respect for individual needs, which is why we see that you are engaged and enjoy working with young adults, have an easy time learning and seeking out new information. The work involves close collaboration with program managers, study directors, and other administrative staff, which means you should have good collaborative skills. The work is characterized by a clear annual cycle with periods of high workload, making it important to have the capacity to handle work under time pressure. Personal qualities will be highly valued in this position.

We want you to have:

  • A degree in study and career counseling or another behavioral science academic degree.
  • Documented good knowledge of counseling and guidance methodology or equivalent work experience. Ability to express yourself correctly in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
  • Documented good computer skills and system understanding.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Previous experience in study counseling.
  • Previous experience in career counseling.
  • Good experience speaking in front of larger groups.

Your workplace

As a study counselor, you will be organizationally part of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences' office. The institutions provide education at the undergraduate level, advanced level, doctoral education, and research. Together, you will be part of a network of study counselors at LiU, thereby contributing to the development of the group and the profession at the university.

About the employment

Temporary employment, 75% of full-time, until 2026-06-30 with a possible extension.

Start date as soon as possible.
