Your Responsibilities

As a special education teacher, you will be responsible for special educational work and for students in need of special support. In your work, you are expected to contribute to identifying and mapping the student's support needs and ensuring that the methods used are research-based and evaluable to the greatest extent possible. You will collaborate with teachers regarding individual students' needs for adjustments.

As a special education teacher, you have an important task in supporting the work with students who are at risk of not reaching the nationally set goals. You will work on this both at the individual and group level.

You will work with students in the Introduction Program, Individually Alternative (IMA), where students study towards the goals of grades 7-9 in order to achieve eligibility for high school. The main focus of your role is to be a special education teacher in language, responsible for students' reading and writing development in Swedish. The assignment also includes a guiding and advisory role towards colleagues in the unit.

Your Workplace

Linnégymnasiet is a high school in central Linköping that offers a safe and stimulating study environment with engaged and well-educated teachers. Part of Linnégymnasiet's activities is specifically adapted for students within the autism spectrum (IVAS) with small teaching groups, high staff density, and adapted facilities. The school has vocational programs, college preparatory programs, and introduction programs.

The position is placed within the Introduction Program, Individually Alternative (IMA), where there are about 40 students. Here, the school works to individually adapt the teaching to the goals of grades 7-9, in a calm and adapted learning environment. As a special education teacher, you will be part of a team consisting of four special education teachers and one special educator. This close and team-based collaboration is a unique and appreciated working form at the school.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who has a teaching license and a special education degree with a focus on language, writing, and reading development. You have previous work experience in the pedagogical work that the teaching assignment entails. You need to have prior experience working with students on the autism spectrum, as well as good knowledge of and experience with language disorders and selective mutism. It is an advantage if you have the qualification to teach Swedish in combination with another subject.

You have good communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish. This is necessary for you to organize and carry out the work in accordance with the curriculum so that the student receives support in their language and communication development.

You have a positive attitude and bring enthusiasm and energy to your work. You have a good ability to create participation in the activity and can build and maintain relationships in the workplace. You have a good insight into how people absorb knowledge and can adapt your way of conveying messages to others. You communicate clearly. You are confident in yourself and see relationships in their proper perspective. Furthermore, you are flexible and solution-oriented, take responsibility for your tasks, and drive processes forward, always with a strong belief in students' ability to achieve their goals.
