Special Education Teacher in Mathematics at Hultdalsskolan

Are you passionate about mathematics and want to use your special education skills to make a real difference for the students who need it the most? Hultdalsskolan is now looking for a special education teacher in mathematics for grades 7-9 who wants to work closely with students, colleagues, and student health to strengthen students' goal achievement.

Who are we?

Hultdalsskolan is a grades 7-9 school located in Åby, about ten kilometers north of Norrköping. Approximately 370 students are enrolled here, distributed across 14 classes. Learning and safety are our main focus!

Our common rules and goals are clear and contribute to a good working environment for both students and staff. Starting from the autumn term of 2024, we will be a mobile-free school, which has further contributed to increased safety and study focus.

We are over 40 employees who together strive to create the best conditions for our students. The teachers are divided into three teams, one for each grade. In addition to the teaching teams, there is a team of special education teachers who, together with the student health team and attendance team, are there to support both students and educators in their daily work.

Your Responsibilities

As a special education teacher at Hultdalsskolan, you actively work to create accessible and inclusive learning environments. With your expertise, you contribute to the school's development through preventive measures and systematic support for students and staff.

Your main tasks include mapping students' needs, establishing investigations regarding special support, and being responsible for developing, following up, and evaluating action plans.

You conduct special education in mathematics both individually and in smaller groups, while also providing support and guidance to teams and teachers through coaching conversations. You actively work to develop the school's organization with a primary focus on mathematics education.

The role also includes work in the school's student health team, where the work is characterized by a salutogenic perspective. Together, the student health team works on promoting and preventive measures, addresses current student cases, and collaborates closely with the school's other staff and management.

Building good relationships and collaborating with guardians and external actors is an important part of the assignment to ensure that each student receives the support they need.

Who are you?

You have a special education degree with a focus on mathematics, or alternatively a special education training and a teaching license in mathematics for grades 7-9. You have experience in pedagogical work in schools, and we view positively if you have worked with teaching students in need of support, preferably in mathematics. Furthermore, we also view positively if you have experience in mentoring teachers and working in student health teams.

As a person, you are secure and attentive with the ability to create trusting relationships with both students and guardians as well as colleagues. You have a good understanding of people's different circumstances and adapt your working methods and approach to each student's unique needs.

You are skilled at coaching, developing, and providing positive support so that students can reach their full potential. You take great responsibility for your work where you independently plan and ensure progress in your processes. It is positive if you are solution-focused and willing to try new alternative solutions.

We also see that you are well acquainted with the school's governing documents and that you have good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing.
