Substitute Special Educator

Your Responsibilities

As a special educator, you will be part of our study team, contributing the special educational perspective regarding preventive measures and adjustments. You will further map, analyze, and document students' needs for support and adjustments. Another of your tasks will be to guide and support educators in the various schools (both within the municipality's own management and the authorized schools) within the municipal adult education for increased knowledge development and higher goal fulfillment.

You are expected to work both independently and in groups, but also in close collaboration with other functions in the workplace. Furthermore, you will also work with information for groups, marketing in various contexts, development work, environmental monitoring, and other tasks.

The target group studying in adult education is heterogeneous. Adult education offers both classroom and distance learning. Since most courses are conducted remotely, you need to be well acquainted with digital tools. The role of special educator requires great innovation and commitment to meet the needs of our various target groups. The assignment is changeable and places high demands on flexibility and the ability to adapt to new circumstances at short notice.

The position is a parental leave substitute from 2026-08-17 to 2027-04-30.

Your Workplace

The Center for Adult Education is a unit that gathers the municipality-wide functions and regulatory activities of adult education in Linköping and provides conditions for effective management, governance, and operational follow-up.

The unit is led by an area manager, a principal, and a vice-principal who are tasked with gathering and developing various assignments within adult education: admissions to adult education, study and career guidance, quality monitoring, communication, information and outreach activities, support services, operational follow-up, and evaluation of the authorized adult education. The Center for Adult Education is tasked with ensuring the quality of the education provided by the educational providers that have agreements with Linköping Municipality. This task includes systematically and continuously following up on the adult education in schools, analyzing results, and ensuring that applicable agreements are followed, and based on that, planning and creating the basis for further development of adult education.

Who You Are

We are looking for someone with a special education degree, and you need to be well acquainted with the Swedish education system. It is advantageous if you have previous experience in adult learning and have experience working with multiple assignments simultaneously. It is also advantageous if you have experience and knowledge of second language acquisition and NPF.

You preferably have experience working in a politically governed organization as we work systematically and result-oriented according to the committee's goals. You have good knowledge of IT-based technology and digital tools. We would like you to have experience driving various development issues within your professional field and that you actively want and can contribute to the development of our operations.

You are self-driven, responsible, and used to managing your work both independently and collaboratively. Through a conscious approach, you create security, trust, and good relationships. You see contexts and prioritize the right issues, listen in, and create understanding while also acting and being flexible in the face of changes. Since the position involves a lot of communication and many points of contact, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. It is of great importance that you demonstrate personal maturity, have the ability to distinguish between the professional and the private, and that you can meet people based on their individual circumstances.
