Your responsibilities
Your starting point as a teacher is to work with planning, teaching, evaluation, and value-based work according to the curriculum. The work is done both independently and in collaboration with colleagues.
As a teacher in grades 7-9, you collaborate with guardians, colleagues, and others present in the school to achieve a higher level of goal fulfillment and create the best conditions for each student. You start from the student group you meet and are expected to create varied and challenging teaching. Using digital tools is a natural part of your teaching.
You promote collegial learning through discussion and reflection during both planned and spontaneous occasions. To benefit students' learning, as well as your own and the development of the organization, you take advantage of the experiences and knowledge of various professions.
This position involves teaching Swedish and Spanish in grades 7-9 as well as mentorship. You, together with a colleague, will be a mentor for a class. Mentorship is an important part of your assignment where you are expected to work closely with students to create functioning student groups and promote students' attendance.
Your workplace
Arenaskolan is a sports school located at Bilbörsen Arena. The school has profiles in football, hockey, figure skating, swimming, dance, and multi-sport orientation. Currently, approximately 550 students attend Arenaskolan, and we have about 80 employees.
The overarching goal of Arenaskolan is maximum learning, equity, enthusiasm, and engagement. We achieve this, among other things, by working together, systematically, and focused on ensuring that all students experience safety and study peace, which is the foundation for students to achieve maximum learning. We have a common and clear value base that all staff actively work with. We have clear and common rules and routines for the entire school so that students encounter clarity and predictability throughout the school day. For example, students have fixed seating in all classrooms, and we work with frequent follow-ups of our rules.
We strive to create a good working environment for our teachers. To allow teachers to focus on teaching and planning, there are support functions at the school that relieve other tasks, such as creating a pleasant atmosphere throughout the school day. As a teacher with us, you will be part of a subject team where you collaborate on teaching. Who you are
We are primarily looking for someone with a teaching license qualified to teach Swedish and Spanish in grades 7-9. Alternatively, we are looking for someone who has completed teacher training for grades 7-9 or is in the final stages of their teacher education for grades 7-9.
It is a requirement that you have experience working in a curriculum-driven school through internships or employment. It is advantageous if you have experience with students with NPF or have taught in lower or middle school. It is also advantageous if you have experience of successful classroom leadership.
In your role as a teacher in grades 7-9, you have good knowledge of the school's mission and are well acquainted with the curriculum (Lgr22) and other governing documents. You have good communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish. This is necessary for you to organize and carry out the work according to the curriculum (Lgr22) so that students receive support in their language and communication development. You are responsible for ensuring that each student can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.
As a teacher, you are a good role model and motivate students by creating engagement and participation. You have the ability to adapt your teaching to the students and allow them to be involved in shaping the instruction. In a quality-conscious manner, you create good conditions for student development and learning and document it. You collaborate well with colleagues, guardians, and other contacts in the community relevant to your professional role. You easily adapt to changing needs. You enjoy challenges and take the initiative to try different methods in teaching to achieve the expected results.
