Resource Educator at Smedbyskolan

Who are we?

Smedbyskolan is a newly built F-6 school in the southern part of Norrköping. We have a modern and well-equipped school environment that was newly built in the autumn of 2024. Here, we have an open and helpful staff where team spirit and collaboration are in focus, and a school leadership that believes in clarity, trust, and joint development.

Your Responsibilities

As a resource educator, you are assigned to an individual student with specific needs in grade 1. Your focus is to create a safe and predictable school environment that enables the student's knowledge development and social interaction. You work pedagogically with the student's goal fulfillment and are there as a support throughout the school day.

The role requires you to be a person who can act clearly, kindly, but firmly. The student needs an adult who can set boundaries with warmth and who has the courage and ability to act physically if the situation requires it for safety's sake.

You actively work with low-arousal responses and use your knowledge of threats and violence to prevent and manage difficult situations professionally.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with a post-secondary education, such as a resource educator, teaching assistant, or caregiver/childminder, who has expertise in NPF and experience working with children who exhibit outwardly aggressive strategies.

To thrive and succeed in this role, you need to easily adapt to new situations and be receptive to changes based on the student's daily condition and needs. You maintain a calm, controlled, and positive attitude even in pressured and stressful situations. You are attentive and empathetic, with a natural ability to create and maintain trusting relationships with both the student and colleagues and guardians.

Furthermore, you have knowledge of and experience in working with threats and violence, and feel secure in handling physical challenges in a pedagogical and safe manner.
