Your Responsibilities

We are looking for someone who wants a combined and responsible role as a leisure teacher with us at Vallastadens School. The position involves working as a resource in the school during the mornings and being responsible for teaching and activities in the leisure center during the afternoons. The position may also involve teaching physical education for a couple of classes.

You will play a key role in the department for grades 2-3. Here, you are expected to drive the development work and take on increased responsibility for leading the operations forward. You will work closely with those responsible for the other departments and be part of the leisure center's management team.

In your role, you will plan, implement, and evaluate teaching based on the curriculum, focusing on creating a varied and challenging leisure activity. You see the student's entire school day as a whole and therefore collaborate closely with both the school, colleagues, and guardians to create the best possible conditions for each student. We encourage you to use digital tools as a natural part of teaching and to contribute to our collegial learning through reflection and experience exchange.

The school, which started in 2017, has about 350 students and offers stimulating learning environments both indoors and outdoors. We are located in a scenic area with large spaces such as forests, barbecue areas, and sports fields. Adjacent to the school is our gymnasium, which is fresh and well-equipped.

The leisure activities are divided into three departments: Molecule (F–1), Atom (2–3), and Helium (4–6). With us, you will become an important part of the community where we help each other create the best environment for our students.

Who You Are

We are looking for a secure and stable adult with the ability to create structure and clarity. You are goal-oriented in your work approach and have experience or a natural inclination to work in a low-stress manner when interacting with students. As a person, you are driven and enjoy taking your own initiatives while recognizing the value of working in a team and developing together with your colleagues.

In the first instance, we are looking for someone with a teaching license with qualifications in leisure education. Alternatively, we are looking for someone with a degree or completed education as a leisure teacher. Alternatively, you are at the end of your education to become a leisure teacher. It is an advantage if you have qualifications to teach physical education for grades 1-6.

It is a requirement that you have experience as a teacher in a curriculum-based leisure center, either through internships or as an employee. It is advantageous if you have worked as a leisure teacher for at least one school year.

In your role as a leisure teacher, you have good knowledge of the school's mission and are well acquainted with the curriculum (Lgr22) and other governing documents. You have good communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish. This is necessary so that you can organize and implement work in accordance with the curriculum (Lgr22) to support the student's language and communication development. You are responsible for ensuring that each student can use the Swedish language in a rich and nuanced way.

As a leisure teacher, you are a good role model. You have the ability to adapt your teaching to the students and allow them to participate in shaping the teaching. In a quality-conscious manner, you create good conditions for the student's development and learning and document it. You collaborate well with colleagues, guardians, and other contacts in the community that are relevant to your professional role.
