Your Responsibilities

You will work within a project focused on optimization, planning, and decision-making in control systems with uncertainties. How to account for uncertainties leads to research questions spanning from data collection, estimation, model representations, and optimization algorithms. In control engineering, stability and performance under feedback must also be considered. The research is conducted within the framework of the competence center SEDDIT.

As a PhD Student

As a PhD student, you will dedicate yourself to your doctoral education and the research project you are part of. Your work may also include teaching or participating in other departmental duties, up to 20 percent of full-time.

Your Qualifications

You have a degree at the advanced level in electrical engineering, engineering physics, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, or technical mathematics, or have completed courses totaling at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at the advanced level as mentioned above, or have acquired equivalent knowledge in another way. The degree requirement must be fulfilled by the time the employment decision is made, that is, when the employment contract is signed.

Furthermore, you should be interested in learning new things and exploring the unknown, and you are meticulous with details. You should also have a good ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

Your Workplace

The Department of Control Engineering successfully conducts research, doctoral education, and undergraduate education in areas such as autonomous systems, data-driven modeling, complex networks, learning control, optimization, and sensor fusion. The department has extensive collaborations with both industry and other research groups around the world.

About the Employment

Upon taking up the position, you will be admitted to the doctoral program. Read more about each faculty's doctoral education here.

The employment is time-limited to normally four years full-time. Extension of employment up to five years occurs based on the degree of teaching and departmental duties. In special cases, further extension may occur. You will initially be employed for one year, and thereafter the employment is renewed for a maximum of two years at a time, based on the achieved study plan. Start date by agreement, but we expect you to have started the employment no later than December 31, 2026.
