Vehicle Instructor at Region Östergötland

Region Östergötland operates three schools, which are gathered under the Regional Development Committee.

Vreta Education Center is located just outside Linköping, Himmelstalund Education Center is situated in Norrköping, and Lunnevads Folk High School is located between Vikingstad and Mantorp. At Vreta Education Center, the Agricultural Program offers specializations in farming, horse management, and forestry, as well as the Vehicle and Transport Program's transport specialization and the Vehicle and Transport Program's transport specialization for Professional Drivers and nationally recruited transport specialization for Recovery Drivers. National Sports Education (NIU) is offered in equestrian sports (dressage or jumping). Vocational adult education and higher vocational education are available in agriculture, horse management, and forestry. The adapted upper secondary school offers the national program Forest, Land, and Animals.

Job Description

We are looking for a vehicle instructor who, in collaboration with the transport education staff, can plan and conduct practical teaching in our vehicle workshop. You should be able to educate our future truck drivers in basic vehicle technology. This includes washing, servicing, maintenance, and simpler repairs in the workshop four days a week with first-year students. You will also be responsible for servicing and simpler repairs of the school's vehicles and trailers one day a week. You should also be able to take responsibility for the transport education's workshop and its teaching materials. You should not be unfamiliar with learning to work in digital environments. You will be part of the transport education's work team and actively participate in the team's development work and therefore be able to work well with others, listen, and communicate. You should also participate in workplace meetings, staff meetings, training, and various marketing activities. You should actively work for the school's core values and, in collaboration with the school's other staff, contribute to an interdisciplinary approach.

Work Group

You will belong to the Transport Unit, which has eight teachers, eight instructors, two mentors, two student assistants, and one unit manager.

About You

We are looking for someone with good knowledge and a burning interest in vehicle technology, washing, servicing, maintenance, and simpler repairs. The important thing is that you want to share your knowledge and motivate the students. You should be able to develop practical teaching and find new ideas to help students achieve their goals. Experience working with young people is desirable, even if it is only at a voluntary level. It is an advantage if you have experience from workshop work with passenger cars and/or trucks. A B driver's license is required, and it is advantageous if you have a C license. You are welcome to have an interest in furthering your education to become a vehicle teacher.

Great importance will be placed on personal suitability to perform the above-described tasks. This means that you enjoy meeting young people at different levels and can lead, engage, and motivate them to want to develop within your subject area. You should have the ability to lead groups and individuals and the ability to convey knowledge. You enjoy working with young people, which means you are outgoing and socially active, like to create contacts, and maintain relationships. You should be able to communicate clearly, ensure that messages are conveyed, and that expectations are clear for all parties involved. It is also important to be able to plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively and set and adhere to timelines. To be able to help all students, it is also important that you are calm, stable, and controlled in stressful situations. You should be able to make quick decisions in various situations while working with students, take initiative, and achieve good results. You should be creative and come up with new ideas to improve the quality of education. The position in transport education requires that you can collaborate well with others, listen, understand, and lead by example.
