Sydsvensk Arkeologi is looking for an experienced archaeologist/project manager in prehistoric archaeology

Sydsvensk Arkeologi AB operates with contract archaeology in southern Sweden, primarily in Skåne. We are a wholly owned subsidiary of Regionmuseet Skåne and have offices in Kristianstad and Malmö. Our permanent organization consists of 19 project managers, project coordinators, an economist, and a CEO. Before each field season, we also hire a varying number of archaeologists. We offer services in all types of archaeological assignments – investigations, preliminary studies, and excavations. Additionally, we perform specialist analyses in osteology, metallurgy, ceramics, and flint.

As an archaeological project manager at Sydsvensk Arkeologi, you will be part of an engaged team with solid expertise in contract archaeology, research, communication, and analysis. You will manage your own projects, primarily focusing on the Stone Age, but all prehistoric periods will be relevant.

Our contract archaeological operations are characterized by variation, and we perform everything from small monitoring of excavations to large investigations of complex archaeological environments. You should be prepared to perform various tasks within the description of the current position. Our assignments are located throughout Skåne and sometimes in adjacent counties.

We are looking for someone with extensive experience as a project manager in contract archaeology. Specialization in the Stone Age is desirable but not a requirement. You are an experienced field archaeologist who has managed larger projects with multiple employees and is accustomed to working independently on smaller projects. Documented experience in tendering work is a clear merit.

You are confident in working independently at all levels of contract archaeology but also enjoy collaborating with others. You work in a structured manner and have good communication skills. You have a very good ability to express yourself in writing and have documented experience in writing reports and scientific articles. Experience in archaeological communication is a plus. As a project manager, you have documented good goal fulfillment and are used to handling parallel tasks.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• A degree in prehistoric archaeology
• A higher academic degree in archaeology is an advantage
• Extensive experience in leading archaeological investigations
• Documented experience in writing scientific articles
• Documented experience in archaeological procurement work
• Good experience with GIS, especially Intrasis and preferably QGIS
• A structured working method and the ability to maintain a good overview
• A communicative and solution-oriented working approach
• Very good collaboration skills
• Excellent ability to express yourself in writing. You need to be able to speak and write fluently in Swedish. Good knowledge of English is an advantage.
