The Malmö Academy of Music is seeking a university lecturer in choir with a focus on church music
The position is 30%.
The employment is permanent starting from 2026-08-10
Job Responsibilities
The job responsibilities include, among other things:
- Teaching choir, choral methodology, choral singing, conducting techniques
- Administrative work/part of course leader responsibility for church music education
- Participation in admission tests, examinations, and similar tasks.
The job responsibilities also include, together with colleagues, stimulating the artistic and pedagogical development of the music education as well as the subject.
Qualifications
- Master's degree from a music academy or other higher education in music
- Extensive experience and professional activity as a choir leader at a high artistic level with a deep grounding in church music
- Documented experience of teaching the subject within higher music education
- Experience of administrative tasks relevant to the position
- Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
For the position, it is also required that you have higher education pedagogical training of at least five weeks, or have acquired equivalent knowledge in another way. If there are special reasons, the appointee may undergo the training during the first two years.
Assessment Criteria
The following will form the basis for assessment:
- Good level as an artistic practitioner, documented and preferably rated
- Good pedagogical ability, which means developing and leading teaching and other pedagogical activities at various levels and with varied teaching methods
- Good ability to spread engagement and interest in the subject areas of the position and the ability to engage and inspire students to their own learning
- Good ability to plan, structure, and implement education at a high level
- Good ability to collaborate with the surrounding cultural life.
A broad network both nationally and internationally within artistic activities, preferably within the field of music and performing arts, as well as experience in recording and sound technology is meritorious.
Consideration will be given to good collaborative skills and how you, through your experience and competence, are assessed to complement and strengthen the subject area within the department, as well as contribute to its future development.

The Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts in Malmö is one of eight faculties within Lund University and consists of the Academy of Fine Arts, the Academy of Music, and the Academy of Theatre, as well as the Inter Arts Center. The Faculty offers bachelor's, master's, and master's programs in fine arts, music, and theatre, as well as a number of courses of varying scope. Artistic doctoral education and research with an artistic focus and in music pedagogy are also conducted here.
At the Academy of Music, musicians, church musicians, composers/arrangers, and music teachers are trained. In addition, doctoral education in music pedagogy and artistic research in music, as well as independent courses, are offered. The Academy collaborates with the surrounding music and cultural community. The Academy of Music is a relatively large workplace with about 200 employees and over 1000 students, offering a creative and stimulating environment with high artistic and pedagogical goals. The dynamic knowledge environment at the department provides students with good conditions to develop into competent and independent musicians, educators, and researchers. The Malmö Academy of Music has a clear international profile with a broad international network.
