Sophiaskolan, Österlens Waldorf School is a non-profit foundation with 230 students in grades F-9. The school has been situated among the apple trees in the charming village of Rörum since 1998, not far from Knäbäckshusens beach. The school is described by both students and guardians as a place where students feel safe and are listened to by the staff. We are committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to reach their goals. Sophiaskolan is a workplace characterized by good cohesion and shared responsibility. We are now looking for a special educator for a 100% position.
As a special educator, you will play a valuable and central role in the school's student health work. You will be part of the school's student health team, which is a competent and forward-thinking group consisting of various professionals in student health.
You will conduct screenings, investigations, mappings, and other forms of pedagogical tests, and you will be responsible for ensuring that students receive the right support – in close collaboration with the school's support staff. You will establish and evaluate action plans and support teachers regarding individual and group-level adaptations. You will work to eliminate barriers and difficulties in the learning environment and develop alternative learning environments. You will guide educators and resource staff, participate in stage group meetings and class conferences.
Your work will involve a lot of contact with the school's staff, guardians, and external contacts. You are expected to be a reliable adult for the students, build good relationships with them, and follow their development over time.
We are looking for someone who is trained and preferably experienced as a special educator with qualifications for primary school. We are a Waldorf school, so we appreciate if you have experience with or interest in Waldorf education. You are driven and enjoy juggling multiple tasks. We also hope that you are engaged in the school's development and do not hesitate to bring ideas and suggestions for improvement.
Documentation and systematic work are significant parts of your job, so it is important that this comes naturally to you. At the same time, your ability to lead and inspire others is a quality we highly value.
Main responsibilities:
· Promoting and preventive: Participate in EHT, follow screening plans, pedagogical investigations, regular support meetings with educators.
· Systematic work: Establish and evaluate action plans, participate in meetings, guide, organize support teaching.
· Daily work: Contact with guardians, collaboration, documentation.
