The Malmö Academy of Music seeks a University Lecturer in Interpretation and Study
The position is 40 percent with placement in the Music Education programs.
The employment is permanent with a start date of August 10, 2026.
Teaching assessments and interviews are planned to take place during weeks 16 and 17.
Responsibilities
- Teaching in Interpretation and Study at undergraduate and advanced levels.
- Participate in the artistic and pedagogical development work of the music education programs, including work in subject collegiums, jury work during admission tests, and participation in examinations, evaluations, and follow-ups.
Qualifications
- Degree at an advanced level from a music academy or another higher education institution in music.
- Extensive and ongoing activity as a musician at a high artistic level, with a deep grounding in Western art music.
- Documented experience of teaching in the subject area at a music academy.
- Experience in administrative tasks relevant to the position.
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
For the position, it is also required that you have a higher education pedagogical training of at least five weeks, or have acquired equivalent knowledge in another way. If there are special reasons, the person hired may undergo the training during the first two years.
Assessment Criteria
- Very good subject knowledge with clear relevance to the content of the position and the tasks included.
- Good pedagogical ability – which means a good ability to conduct, develop, and lead teaching and other pedagogical activities at various levels and with varying teaching methods.
- Great emphasis is placed on well-documented high level as an artistic practitioner.
- Good ability to spread engagement and interest in the subject area of the position as well as the ability to engage and inspire students to their own learning.
- Good ability to plan, structure, and carry out education at a high level.
- Good ability to collaborate with the surrounding cultural life.
- A broad and versatile professional musical activity is seen as meritorious.
In assessing the applicant, consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills and how the applicant, through their experience and competence, is assessed to complement and strengthen the subject areas within the department.

The Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts in Malmö is one of eight faculties within Lund University and consists of the Academy of Fine Arts, the Academy of Music, and the Academy of Theatre, as well as the Inter Arts Center. The Faculty offers bachelor's, master's, and master's programs in fine arts, music, and theatre, as well as a number of courses of varying scope. It also conducts doctoral education and research with an artistic focus and in music pedagogy.
At the Academy of Music, musicians, church musicians, composers/arrangers, and music teachers are trained. In addition, doctoral education in music pedagogy and artistic research in music is offered, as well as independent courses. The Academy of Music collaborates with the surrounding music and cultural community. It is a relatively large workplace with about 200 employees and over 1,000 students, offering a creative and stimulating environment with high artistic and pedagogical goals.
