Community Developer at the Tenants' Association
Do you want to make a difference in people's everyday lives? Are you passionate about justice, safety, and the ability for people to influence their housing? Then you might be our next community developer!
The Tenants' Association is a strong grassroots movement that works every day to improve the conditions for tenants. We want to guarantee all tenants safety, influence, and community – and we know that the best way to achieve this is through engagement and participation. We are now looking for someone who wants to contribute to this important mission in the Norrland Region.
Your Mission
As a community developer, you are a key person in our work to strengthen and develop our membership movement. You will work closely with members and elected representatives to create engagement and participation in residential areas. The position includes overall responsibility for the region's educational and cultural activities for members and elected representatives. A particular focus is also on developing and coordinating activities aimed at young members. The role involves strategically developing, coordinating, and following up on educational initiatives.
The position involves both strategic and practical work, where you:
- Conduct outreach work where you meet tenants, arrange housing meetings, and initiate activities.
- Plan, implement, and follow up on activities, including work with projects, agreements, and funding.
- Develop collaborations to reach new target groups.
- Be responsible for our educational activities for our elected representatives.
- Coordinate and develop activities aimed at young members.
Our community developers belong to a unit consisting of 5 employees and a unit manager. The Norrland community unit works broadly across all of Norrland. Therefore, it is essential that you are comfortable using tools like Teams for remote meetings with colleagues and elected representatives in the Tenants' Association. The position includes travel with varying frequency. The position is based in our office in Umeå.
We are looking for someone who
You are a relationship builder with a strong commitment to social issues, and you believe in people's power to influence. You are attentive, creative, and good at turning ideas into reality – and you inspire others to do the same. You have:
- High school education or higher education, or equivalent competence.
- Experience from the non-profit sector, community life, or similar.
- Good experience working independently, driving projects, and collaborating with others.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Good computer skills.
- Driver's license and access to a personal vehicle (requirement, as the work is outreach).
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience working with education, particularly popular education or adult learning.
- Knowledge of accounting and budget work.
- Experience engaging young adults.
Our Offer to You
We are a values-driven organization with a strong sense of community and good employment conditions. We care about ensuring our employees have a good and pleasant working environment. Here, you have the opportunity to develop and grow. Collective agreements, flexible working hours, the possibility of hybrid work, a generous wellness allowance, and occupational pension are some of the benefits we offer. With us, you will collaborate with colleagues you can have fun with and learn from.
Application
Welcome to submit your application today or by 2026-03-06 at the latest. We apply a 6-month probationary period. If you have questions, please feel free to call Anna Lyckholm at 010 459 18 04. Our union representatives are Johannah Malmin, SACO, 010 459 18 03, Jonas Eriksson, Handels, 010 459 18 33, and Åsa Eriksson, Journalisterna, 010 459 18 11.
Welcome to the Tenants' Association! We work for reasonable rents and good conditions for everyone in rental housing. A safe home for a lifetime where people and society develop.
