We are now looking for an image analyst for the Police Region North based in Umeå. With us, you will work and develop alongside engaged and motivating colleagues; while your work contributes to increasing safety and reducing crime in Sweden.

About the workplace

The Police Region North consists of four police areas: Norrbotten, Västerbotten, Västernorrland, and Jämtland.

The Camera Technology Group belongs to the regional investigation section of Region North, which is responsible for crimes that need to be investigated at the regional level. The investigation section in the Police Region North has various tasks and capabilities. The Camera Technology Group currently consists of the Image Analysis Group, Camera Surveillance Center, Camera Technology Specialists, FSA Coordinators, Coordinators, and Group Leaders.

The Image Analysis Group is responsible for securing and analyzing surveillance footage and images as well as sound. The groups also have a regional responsibility for IT forensic work regarding image and film management (multimedia).

Job responsibilities

The Image Analysis Group consists of image analysts with a broad and collective competence and ability in areas such as securing, analysis, image processing, and investigative work. We work within a rapidly expanding organization and are now looking for image analysts with technical competence in IT and multimedia.

The work as an image analyst mainly involves securing, reviewing, analyzing, and reporting moving media from various types of video surveillance systems. During a working day as an image analyst, you will perform many different types of tasks; from the workplace in Umeå.

The tasks include processing sensitive and strong image and sound material.

Qualifications

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education acquired in another way that the employer assesses as relevant for the position?
  • Good vision (with or without corrective lenses) and normal color vision
  • Relevant education or current knowledge and/or experience in image and film management that the employer assesses as relevant for the position
  • Very good computer skills and aptitude for learning new programs
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
  • Driving license B
  • Swedish citizenship

We consider it meritorious if you also have:

  • Investigation experience and/or good knowledge of police preliminary investigations
  • Knowledge of various surveillance systems that handle images and films
  • Experience in delivering oral and written presentations
  • Relevant experience in digital image and film editing
  • Relevant experience in handling and editing digital sound
  • Relevant experience in handling various file formats and codecs
  • Post-secondary education that the employer assesses as relevant for the position
  • Experience in service-oriented work with customer contact via phone or personal meetings that the employer assesses as relevant for the position

Personal qualities

You are unpretentious, relationship-building, and have a positive attitude. You have a great interest and aptitude for image/sound and film management as well as for learning to work with new applications in the field. Since you may handle various tasks simultaneously and the workload can sometimes be high, it is required that you are flexible. The work requires that you are meticulous, have good multitasking ability, and the ability to work structured and quality-conscious even under stressful conditions. You are analytically inclined, a logical problem solver who can place individual events in a larger context and use an investigative perspective. We see that you are self-driven and take initiative in your daily work.

In the role of image analyst, you will have daily contact with both internal and external parties, which requires excellent collaboration and communication skills.
