Kriminalvården is looking for managerial support in Umeå

Kriminalvården is expanding – we are building new facilities, renovating, and adding to our existing structures, and we are now seeking more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

The Umeå operational area includes the closed prison Umeå, the open prison Sörbyn, and the detention center Umeå. We are undergoing significant capacity increases, and there is much happening in the operational area in terms of renovations and new constructions. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but we also have healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, and more. In the Sörbyn prison, inmates are engaged in labor market training, learning centers, various treatment programs, or work in the kitchen, carpentry, plant cultivation, textiles, etc. The Sörbyn prison is an agricultural facility with grain cultivation and animal husbandry. In the Umeå prison, inmates are engaged in wood/industry, kitchen, learning centers, and treatment programs. The Umeå prison and detention center are about a 10-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, while Sörbyn prison is only accessible by car. Staff parking is available at all units.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Within the Umeå operational area, three managerial support positions with different focuses are planned. As a managerial support, you will work closely with the Chief of Corrections, Deputy Chief of Corrections, and the correctional inspectors (first-line managers). You will also collaborate with several others in the organization, which places high demands on your communication skills. Through a consultative working method, you will support the managers in their budget work and budget follow-up. You will also be responsible for administration and planning for management team meetings, in addition to working on planning and documentation related to the safety committee. Given that the Umeå operational area is growing, the role will evolve over time, and you will be able to influence the tasks in the assignment in dialogue with the Chief of Corrections and other managerial support.

QUALIFICATIONS

To thrive in the role of managerial support in the Umeå operational area, we see that you need good collaboration skills and find it easy to make new contacts. You will support the managers in an advisory manner and provide them with the knowledge they need to perform their work. We see that you are curious while also willing to share your knowledge. Since the position will change over time, you need to be self-driven, proactive, and adaptable to changes. You will be responsible for keeping order in folders related to larger forums, so it is important that you can work in a structured manner. As a managerial support, you will assist the managers in various contexts, which also requires you to have high integrity and a good ability to listen to the manager's support needs.

We are looking for someone who has:

• High school diploma
• Work experience in administrative roles in the public sector with an economic focus
• Experience in budget work and its components
• Experience in supporting managers
• Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish
• Good IT skills

It is considered meritorious if you have:

• Education with a focus on economics
• Experience in coordinating, planning, and following up processes with multiple stakeholders
• Experience in a consultative working method
