Environmental Officer with a focus on hazardous activities

The Environmental Unit is a department that works with issues within a large part of the Environmental Code's areas. We conduct supervision and assessment of everything from large industrial facilities to smaller water matters. Many environmental issues are found within expanding industries such as mining, smelting, and wind power. We offer an outward-facing and varied job with many contacts both within and outside the county, from local and regional work to international levels. Job Responsibilities
The County Administrative Board handles a wide range of industries, and we are now looking for an officer focusing on the assessment of financial securities for hazardous activities and the handling of waste transports as well as administration within the environmental area. Work is carried out both independently and in groups.
Common tasks include:
- Processing of assessment cases regarding hazardous activities
- Analyzing the environmental impact of operations
Qualifications
We are looking for you who:
- Have a university degree with a legal focus
- Have experience in handling waste transports and financial securities
- Have good knowledge of the application of environmental legislation for hazardous activities
- Have an interest in environmental issues and motivation to carry out regulatory activities
- Have the ability to make assessments against legislation
- Have, for the tasks, good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish, as the work involves independent processing and written communication
- Have documented experience of similar work in the recent past
- Have experience in record-keeping at a government agency.
We consider it an advantage if you also have:
- Experience with the record-keeping system Platina
- A valid driving license as travel may be required in the job
- Experience with tasks related to the position you are applying for.
To thrive in the role, you need to have good judgment and decision-making ability. You should have an analytical, structured working method and be good at keeping things organized. You are diplomatic, practical, and always ready to take action, with the ability to work independently with great drive.
We place great emphasis on your personal suitability and will, in addition to merit and skill, also consider the labor market and employment policy goals in § 4 of the Employment Ordinance.
Conditions
The position is a fixed-term employment according to a special conditions agreement for certain state employment (VASA) on a full-time basis for 12 months, with a possibility of extension.
