Description

Within the psychology subject, education is offered at the undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels. In October 2014, the subject was granted rights for a psychology degree, and a psychology program was launched in the fall of 2015. In addition to this program, several independent courses in psychology are offered at the undergraduate and advanced levels. Doctoral education in psychology has been available at Karlstad University since the turn of 2006. Since 2018, the psychology program has had a psychology reception at the university, to which an assistant is annually assigned. We are now looking for a new assistant for the psychology reception for the spring semester of 2026, who will also receive a handover from the previous assistant.

Responsibilities

The assistant is a student who, alongside their studies, will assist the head of the psychology reception at Karlstad University. This includes tasks such as assisting in the establishment and implementation of routines, maintaining communication with relevant parties regarding the journal system, recording, and other technical equipment. It may also involve assisting in the management of applications to the psychology reception, as well as assisting in the administration of the psychology reception's website.

To contribute to a good work environment and the development of the operations, you are present and participate in the daily work and community.

Assessment Requirements

Only those who are admitted to education at the undergraduate or advanced level may be employed as assistants (HF 5 chap §10). Applicants must be admitted to the psychology program at Karlstad University and be in their 7th or 8th semester. The applicant must demonstrate good academic results and have an interest in participating in teaching within our programs and our research.

Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, is also a requirement.

Assessment Criteria

Of particular importance is your ability to switch between solution-oriented independent work and collaboration, that you are proactive, action-oriented, and thus can get things done. We place great emphasis on your good pedagogical and social skills as well as your ability to learn new data systems easily. Personal suitability will be given significant weight.

Conditions

The position as an assistant comprises 20% of full-time, which corresponds to 8 hours a week or one workday a week. The scheduling of work may vary over time and is done by agreement.

Start date by agreement, but we prefer a start date from April 1, 2026, to be able to shadow the current assistant for a month. The employment is for one year.

Employment as an assistant can be extended, but for a maximum of 3 years total and provided that the applicant still meets the eligibility requirements.

The salary for the assistant position follows the local collective agreement with a fixed monthly salary.
