Description

Would you like to explore the exciting intersection of artificial intelligence, data quality, and personal privacy together with an engaged team of researchers and representatives from the business community?

We are now announcing a postdoctoral position for participation in research and teaching focused on the generation and evaluation of synthetic data.

Your tasks will include conducting research experiments, documenting and publishing research results, collaborating with our partners from the business community, and participating in teaching within the aforementioned areas.

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will have the opportunity to develop your creative and innovative ideas in these areas. You will work closely with the research group SQuaD (Software Quality and Digital Modernization) at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, which offers a stimulating and international working environment characterized by collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Since the postdoctoral position constitutes a merit-based position for junior researchers, we are targeting candidates who have a doctoral degree that is no more than three years old, counted from the last application date. The position is limited to two years, with the possibility of extension for up to one year.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as a postdoctoral researcher include collecting and analyzing real data sets from our project partners, applying various methods for data synthesis, and developing relevant indicators for the level of data quality achieved in the synthesized data sets. Based on this, you will contribute to defining reliable estimation techniques for quality and personal privacy, as well as guiding documents to characterize different methods for data synthesis, in close collaboration with other participants in the research project. You will follow the development of methods for generating synthetic data, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence and/or statistical analysis methods, to identify new methods that are relevant to the project's results. You will contribute to the documentation, publication, and presentation of these results in relevant scientific contexts as well as in the documents that will report the project's results.

To achieve this, you will work closely with the project group at the university and our partners. Good knowledge of English is a requirement since it is the working language within the project. You are expected to collaborate with the surrounding community for mutual exchange and to ensure that the knowledge and expertise available at the university benefit society. Participation in teaching, for example by contributing to courses or supervising student theses and independent projects within areas relevant to the project, is a mandatory part of the postdoctoral position.

To contribute to a good working environment and the development of the operations, you are present and participate in the daily work and community. Part-time remote work may be granted under special circumstances, if the tasks allow and by agreement.

Qualifications

Eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher is someone who has obtained a doctoral degree in computer science or another related subject, or has equivalent scientific competence. The doctoral degree must be obtained before a decision on employment is made. The degree may have been obtained no more than three years before the end of the application period. Older degrees may be considered when special reasons exist, such as leave due to illness, parental leave, clinical service, trust assignments within trade unions, military service, or other circumstances/services relevant to the employment. Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is a requirement as it is the working language in the project.

Assessment Criteria

Of particular importance is documented experience in conducting research within the project's focus areas, namely synthetic data, data quality, and data-driven artificial intelligence. Documented experience in publishing research results within these areas is also of particular importance.

Of great importance is documented knowledge and expertise in general artificial intelligence, data and systems science, teaching at the university level, and data protection assessment. Great emphasis is also placed on documented experience of collaboration with academic and industrial partners in research projects and other forms of collaboration.

Also of great importance are personal qualities such as good collaboration skills, responsibility, and a constructive and professional approach to colleagues and students.

Emphasis is placed on documented experience in software development and programming, experience in collaborating with and disseminating research results to the surrounding community, as well as experience working abroad and/or working in national and international networks.

Good knowledge of Swedish is meritorious. Experience in teaching within artificial intelligence, systems science, computer science, and engineering, or personal privacy and security, is also meritorious.
