Description

We are now expanding with a special education teacher at Skäggeberg School and Gräsmark School.

The position is divided 60% to Skäggeberg School and 40% to Gräsmark School, focusing on grades F-3 with an emphasis on writing and reading development. Sunne Municipality strives to provide all students with the best conditions for success. We are now looking for an engaged and qualified special education teacher in Swedish who wants to make a difference. The schools in Sunne Municipality organize education based on the belief that children and students can and want to learn and develop, with an awareness that development requires long-term commitment, perseverance, and a holistic perspective. We develop our teaching based on language and knowledge-developing methods and differentiated instruction. We see it as important to participate in team time for joint discussions, learning, and development, as well as collaboration across grade boundaries. You will belong to the Sundsvik school area, which includes Skäggeberg School, Svensby School, and Gräsmark School. The school's student health team consists of counselors, school nurses, special educators, special teachers, as well as principals and vice-principals.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and support students in their writing and reading development.
  • Develop and adapt teaching materials and methods to meet individual student needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special educators, student health, and guardians to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to monitor student progress.
  • Contribute to the design and evaluation of action programs.
  • Participate in professional development and development work within the school, where you may also provide guidance.
  • Be involved in any vacation school.

In your role as a special education teacher, you will meet engaged teachers and curious students who need your specific skills. Together, you will create the right conditions based on a salutogenic approach with collaboration in promoting and preventive work. The goal is to create accessible learning environments through good leadership and stimulation in teaching. As a special education teacher, you will guide educators at the organizational, group, and individual levels. You will support processes and the execution of documentation, mapping, extra adaptations, and measures. You will have student-facing work and collaborate with teachers for students in need of extra adaptations and special support, also providing support in groups and individually. Development work and systematic quality work are also part of your role, as well as collaborating with external organizations and authorities such as social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, and habilitation. You are part of the school's student health team together with school management, counselors, school nurses, special teachers, and special educators.

Qualifications

  • Licensed special education teacher with qualifications in Swedish.
  • Experience working with students with special needs.
  • Good knowledge of adapted teaching methods and pedagogical tools.
  • Ability to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Good collaboration skills and communication abilities.

We are looking for you who are a special education teacher, have a teaching license, and special pedagogical competence with a focus on Swedish. Great importance is placed on personal suitability. In your professional role, you must be able to establish good contacts with children and adults. You are responsible, have good communication skills, and can express yourself well in Swedish both verbally and in writing. If you have knowledge of and experience with language and knowledge-developing methods as well as differentiated instruction, it is an advantage. For the position, you need to have the ability to handle digital tools in your daily work. The schools in Sunne Municipality primarily use the tools Schoolsoft and Microsoft Teams.

Conditions

A valid B driver's license and access to your own car are required. The position includes travel between schools. Before employment can occur, a valid extract from the police criminal record must be presented. Interviews will be conducted continuously during the recruitment period, and hiring decisions may be made before the application deadline. The employment is a vacation position. A probationary period may be applied.
