Special Education Teacher for Grades F–3
Grums Municipality is part of the Karlstad region and is located by the shores of Lake Vänern, a 20-minute drive from Karlstad. Here, you will enjoy all the benefits of working in a small municipality. We have jobs that make a difference. Together, we make an impact every day, each in our own way, but always with the municipality's residents in focus. By following our values, we create a welcoming municipality characterized by engagement, participation, professionalism, and joy in work.
We are now looking for a special education teacher for the F–3 area, which consists of two schools:
- Södra School in the town and
- Slottsbron School, approximately 1.5 km to the south. Slottsbron School has around 80 students divided into four classes and an after-school program. Södra School has about 260 students, adapted primary school, and an after-school program. Both schools are close to forests and nature and offer a varied and stimulating outdoor environment.
The schools share a common student health team and are characterized by close and trusting collaboration among professionals. We work health-promoting and preventive, focusing on developing accessible and inclusive learning environments.
We are currently in a development phase of our student health work, strengthening structures, routines, and methods to ensure equity and high quality in the support provided to our students. To take the next step in this work, we are now looking for a special education teacher who wants to contribute both operationally and strategically to the organization.
With us, you make a difference!
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a special education teacher, you are a central part of the school's student health team and work closely with the principal, vice principal, teachers, educators, and other professionals in student health. The role includes both ongoing special education work and a clear development assignment.
Your responsibilities include:
- contributing to and coordinating investigations of students' needs for special support
- participating in the establishment, follow-up, and evaluation of action plans
- guiding and supporting teachers in their work with extra adaptations and accessible learning environments
- actively participating in the student health team's work with analysis, assessment, and follow-up
- collaborating with guardians and, if necessary, external actors
- contributing to clear and common routines within student health work
- enhancing quality and equity in documentation and follow-up
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with a degree in special education and experience working as a special education teacher in school settings. You have good knowledge of the Education Act, curricula, and the Swedish National Agency for Education's governing documents, as well as a well-developed ability to document, analyze, and follow up on students' support needs. You express yourself very well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
To succeed in this role, you are structured, analytical, and responsible, with a development-oriented and solution-focused approach. You have good collaborative skills and thrive in interdisciplinary contexts, take initiative, and contribute with clear special education professional leadership. You have the ability to see and understand the connections between the individual, teaching, and organization.
Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
For work within the school sector, you need to present a criminal record extract before employment, in accordance with current legislation. The extract can be ordered free of charge via polisen.se to your digital mailbox or by post. When ordering by post, the processing time is approximately one to two weeks.
Of course, you share our values of being professional, welcoming, engaged, and participatory!
