Description
Within the field of risk and environmental studies, we offer a bachelor's program in environmental science with a focus on risk management, a master's program in Risk Management in Society, several independent courses, and commissioned education as well as doctoral education.
Risk and environmental studies is an interdisciplinary field with staff and international guests from many countries. The research is based on environmental science, public health science, and risk management. The subject includes about 30 staff members and focuses on society's need to systematically manage threats and risks that affect people's health, critical societal functions, and the environment.
The operations span threat analysis, preventive work, and preparations for sustainable development. A large part of the research is linked to research centers and is conducted in close collaboration with companies, organizations, municipalities, county administrative boards, and government agencies.
Responsibilities
We are looking for someone who can teach risk management in society, particularly focusing on local resilience and collaboration for increased safety and security.
The role includes:
- Teaching and supervision within our educational programs and commissioned education
- Participation in research and collaboration projects at the Center for Research on Societal Risks
- Coordination of research communication in RiskLab
Teaching and collaboration are conducted in Swedish. To contribute to a good working environment and the development of the operations, you are present and participate in the daily work and community of the subject.
Eligibility
To be eligible for employment as a university lecturer, one must have a master's degree with risk management as the main subject.
In addition, a completed higher education pedagogical training is required. If the training is lacking, employment can still occur, provided that the employee commits to completing it within the first two years of employment. - Pedagogical skills
- Good knowledge of societal risk management, climate adaptation, and local resilience
- Experience in teaching societal risk
- Good knowledge of coordinating collaboration processes
- Good knowledge of research communication
- Good ability to teach in Swedish
- Personal qualities such as good collaboration skills, initiative, creativity, good communication skills, and the ability to be clear.
- Experience in participating in research projects to quickly be able to start in an already initiated/existing research project.
Of great importance
- Good experience in distance education
- Good experience in supervision at the undergraduate level
- Good experience in assessing student assignments
- Good ability to express oneself orally and in writing in English
Meritorious
- Experience in teaching at the advanced level
- Knowledge of and experience in research ethics
- Experience in collaboration with relevant societal actors and the business community
- Good ability and experience in using Survey&Report in teaching
Conditions
Start date March 1 to December 31, 2026, scope 50–80%, with the possibility of extension.
