The Child and Youth Administration is seeking lead teachers/lecturers for grades 7-9.

• Adapted primary school: unspecified subject knowledge
• Hultsberg School: mathematics and English
• Iland School: mathematics, Swedish, and English
• Marieberg School: mathematics, Swedish, science, and physical education
• Mother Tongue Unit: mother tongue
• Norrstrand School: mathematics, Swedish, and English
• Orrholm School: mathematics and Swedish
• Prest-subjects: physical education, music, art, crafts, home economics, technology, and modern languages
• Resource School: mathematics and Swedish
• Rud School: mathematics, Swedish as a second language, English, and science
• Vålberg School: English* and science*

In the selection process, your qualifications and competencies will be matched against the school and needs. The positions come with a salary supplement of 5,000 SEK, 7,500 SEK, or 10,000 SEK for lead teachers depending on the unit. If you are a lecturer, an additional salary supplement of 5,000 SEK will be added.

Job Responsibilities

In the role of lead teacher/lecturer, your primary task is teaching. As a lead teacher/lecturer with us, you are expected to have solid subject knowledge and the ability to motivate and inspire students in teaching. You will work to improve students' academic results, analyze teaching, and work with evidence-based teaching methods. You will also contribute to school development by leading and supporting collegial learning through mentorship, observation, and pedagogical discussions.

Your assignment as a lead teacher/lecturer lasts for three years at a time and is linked to a specific school. After three years, there may be an opportunity for extension. You have a permanent employment as a teacher that remains even if the lead teacher/lecturer assignment is not extended after three years. In some cases, leave of absence may be granted to try the lead teacher role at another school.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a teaching license and at least 4 years of documented experience in well-rated teaching. You have demonstrated a particularly good ability to improve students' academic results and have a strong interest in developing teaching. To become a lecturer, a doctoral degree (licentiate or doctorate) is also required.

In the assessment for the lead teacher role, we particularly look at your teaching skills, pedagogical leadership, and your didactic and subject-specific competencies. We also value your ability to collaborate and mentor colleagues, as well as your professional ethics and alignment with the school's core values. As a person, you take initiative and drive development in a safe and solution-focused manner. With your analytical ability, you see the big picture and find ways forward that benefit both students and colleagues. You collaborate well with others and contribute to an open and supportive work environment. Qualification Process for Lead Teachers

To be considered for a position as a lead teacher, you need to undergo a Qualification Process. If you have not completed this process before, a work sample will be sent to you as part of the selection.

If you are already working as a lead teacher in Karlstad Municipality, you do not need to go through the qualification process.
